Does anybody have a review on this?
Is it really better than Daryl's Ambitious card? Good? Bad?
What?!

I don't know if I'd buy anything that's a "crash course." You can't just learn this stuff quickly and expect to be good. Although, this might just be a "flashy" name to snag customers; Ellusionist is notorious for such tactics.

From what I have read on other posts that it is not favorable. Stick with Daryl.

There's a discussion on it right now in the card forum.

Get Daryl's. It has more sleights you could ever use, and it's from a source that most people love, in comparison to Ellusionist anyway.
Besides, what do you think will be better, Brad Christina's routine, or Daryl's Award winning FISM routine? I hope you make the right choice. |

Daryl's video is more to market his Ultimate Ambition effect, which is poor. I'd use Doc Eason's video to learn it. He credits Daryl with the moves, but it's a non gimmicked routine. We need to get away from gimmicks and start using sleight of hand again. I think Vernon was supossed to be pretty good at sleight of hand ;-)

Besides Daryl's having more moves, another positive is what it doesn't have; the ever-annoying Brad.

Am I the only one bored of these anti and pro Ellusionist arguments? The topic of this conversation was a review and then about 5 replies were relevant before it turned into ANOTHER Ellusonist thread.

People I don't really care if brad is bad or not, in my opinion, I like the guy, I think he is a nice guy, but all I really want to know is where do you learn the most from???
Just because Daryl has a better name doesn't mean he is the best, maybe he is but what if his not. Youo know what I'll do, I will buy them BOTH and when I see them then I'll se which is better, if Daryl is better, then you were right. But if Brad's is better, then I would like for everybody to stop hating him for doing magic. Thanks Marien

Daryl is an excellent teacher. I have 2 of Brad's videos and liked them. I understand the knock on him not giving credit, Ninja 1 & 2 have alot of info/sleights on them. I don't' care for his performing style ( Brad ) but that has nothing to do with learning.

His profiting from selling other people's material without permission or even crediting is why so many despise his business.

All the comments made were relevant. This IS an ellusionist thread because it deals with a product of his.

Back to the topic...
Daryl's video teaches his FISM award-winning Ambitious Card routine. Crash Course 2 teaches you how to CREATE your own Ambitious Card routines. CC2 is geared more towards beginners/intermediate magicians. Daryl's video doesn't teach you how to create and structure your own routine. It doesn't teach you how to deal with hecklers and such. It leaves out all the performance bits of the Ambitious Card, instead focusing on his own routine and the sleights involved. CC2 has less sleights and moves, but it is more informative in terms of teaching you the performance and presentational skills. CC2's entertainment value is also much higher than Daryl's - Daryl is just a bit bland and boring. CC2 is aimed more towards "strolling" magic sort of magic, while Daryl's is more for table-hopping. CC2 is of higher quality in terms of video production, and has voice-overs, blah, you get the idea. There is nothing special about CC2. Daryl's video is all a build-up to his ultimate Ambition finish. You really can't compare the two videos.

Daryl's video teaches his FISM award-winning Ambitious Card routine. Crash Course 2 teaches you how to CREATE your own Ambitious Card routines. Daryl teaches you how to create your own too. Daryl includes all of the phases in his routine and many more. It's basically a menu of possible phases for the AC routine allowing you to pick and choose what best fits you. Quote:
CC2 is geared more towards beginners/intermediate magicians. Why is this a good thing? Daryl's video is simply intended for anyone wanting to make their own AC routine. Quote:
Daryl's video doesn't teach you how to create and structure your own routine. This I simply disagree with. Quote:
It doesn't teach you how to deal with hecklers and such. Once again, it was about teaching the AC. There are plenty of other resources for learning to deal with hecklers and such. That was not Daryl's purpose. Quote:
It leaves out all the performance bits of the Ambitious Card, instead focusing on his own routine and the sleights involved. Once again, I don't know what to say except that I completely disagree. Quote:
CC2 has less sleights and moves, but it is more informative in terms of teaching you the performance and presentational skills. Ellusionist is the exact wrong place to turn to for learning presentational skills. There are many great books on that subject. It's something that simply cannot be learned from a video. Quote:
CC2's entertainment value is also much higher than Daryl's - Daryl is just a bit bland and boring. That's just a personal opinion. Everyone is different. Personally, I like Daryl and found the video entertaining. Quote:
CC2 is aimed more towards "strolling" magic sort of magic, while Daryl's is more for table-hopping. I'm sure with all the moves Daryl teaches you, you could easily structure an AC routine for any performing situation. Quote:
You really can't compare the two videos. That I agree with.

Go with Daryl Ambitious Card video. It has more of the classic moves to Ambitious Card routine than Crash 2 does.
