Looking forward to this tonight after last weeks response to Control The Nation and my manual.
I've got a few ideas how he's going to do it! |

How are the ratings? .. Honestly, I'm very interested in the success. We do not get a good inclination of how the whole thing is going over here.
Is there a "Market Share" buff around who would know?

So far there have been mainly positive reviews.
Most of the people I talk to seem to love what he is doing. A few have said they think its a load of crap but you cant please everyone. Most people agree that the last Event was better than the lottery one. I think a lot of people actually expected him to actually have a way to win the lottery. lol the thing is, regardless of if people like his shows or not he has got the whole nation talking about him which is better publicity than anything else. But it has to said that the lottery show made much more impact - had much more press coverage and got hugely more lay people talking about it - than last weeks show, even though last weeks show was greatly superior. The whole country was talking about the lottery show but there was nothing like that level of interest in the second program. |

That's true. In the media anyway
Then again you are gonna start off your specials with the one that gets the most publicity first. Get everyone hyped up and wanting to see more. One of my work colleagues is still fraked out about how he was stuck to his sofa. I keep threatning to stick him to his chair at work if he doesn't hit his targets! ;) M |

I should be able to get you pretty good ratings figures for the shows so far on Monday. I seem to remember the figure of 3m being touted about for the lottery show, but can't confirm that.

Hilarious! - Derren mentions that the adverts in the commercial break "might be a bit distracting" and the very first one is of Christine Aguilera in sexy undies. Distracted? Just a bit!
By the way, before the reveal, I drew a bike and a house (I know, an obvious one). Wonder what the drawing is....? |

A load of circles... Derren will clap smuggly, and she will verify what is it she drew. signed "KM"

I wasn't.
Should've guessed it was concentric circles (Lauren's eyes...). |

As I thought
Achieved through priming and psychology. Loads of images in circles beside the picture (100 years. Lots of referenence to seeing and eyes and of course the most commonly drawn geometric shape, and what’s the most famous location in the UK related to psychic and new age phenomenon - Stonehenge! Love the Bat Man though, what an inspirational guy! Marc |

Lauren's eyes...swoon...though how did Derren plant the idea in her head of course. I went for house but only due to the standard possibilties.
The Helios Horses and the Yank 'remote scatter gun guesser' I actually got straight away but only because I took photos of the Helio horses a few years ago and it just seemed the right thing to look at. I'm interested to know whether seasoned mentalists thought 'that old chestnut' as I have not seen those efects before. Again, as was mentioned on another thread what is old to you guys is new to the majority of the general public. Quote:

I didn't actually notice those. So presumably a fair amount of pre-work on Lauren before and during her initial appearance to get the circles in her mind. Quote:

Hi Alfster!
The Bat man was the blind guy who "saw" through clicks and sound - amazing! As for the priming of Lauren and us, could have been done a number of ways! I ve outlined them in my free manual which I published about 5 hous before the show...I must be psychic!! All the best Marc |

Thing is, I doubt it'll even be the techniques Derren uses. He's just trying to make some money from a famous name, like those Abibas trainers with only two stripes on them, or Star Warriors figures from the £1 shop.
Luckily, I doubt anyone here will be gullible enough to fall for it. |

I drew a smiley face. :-(
I was influenced by the ring lights in her eyes. Which at the time I thought was an odd way to light the subject. I was more impressed with the light bulb trick. The color and ramp up of the "light" was wrong for an incandescent bulb - made me think of an LED in his hand, or wonder if this could be pulled off with a laser. But then I have a thing for lasers... Steve |

[/quote] Hi Ian This manual which is free is a bit of fun. In it I discuss Priming, anchoring and other pschological ideas. In fact Derrens ideas (testing for esp) have been done 100s of times in psychlabs accross the world, not to mention 1000s of mentalists http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2......7203539/ I don't tip any magical method, I purely discuss the psychology of what he's doing, and give some examples how it could be achieved. What I'm fascinated about is that Derren never propperly explains what he is doing. So I like to provide people with more detail. When he uses mentalist techniques rather than psychology, I don't tip those those techiques For example last week I posted this on here: Quote:

All the best Marc Posted: Sep 26, 2009 3:03am By The way Found some interesting work on Perceptual Fluency, which in basic terms is the remembering Vs Knowing judgements. In essences people when there attention is distracted do not realise they have been primed with certain info, They think they "know" but in fact they are remembering.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remember_versus_know_judgements Quite a nice idea for ESP effects? |
