I did a show the other night and it was the most bizarre experience. I had about twenty chairs out on the stage, and they were filled as soon as I called for volunteers. Then I began the induction, and it went weird. All the people to the right of the centre chair went under. None of the people to the left went under. Not a single one.
After I dismissed the unresponsive it made for a strange sight - all the action concentrated on one half of the stage. I had to get all the chairs moved while they were up acting out a routine. Thinking about it afterwards I said to someone that the lights were far stronger on the right, and the left side of the stage was in shadow. He then told me that I had played far more strongly to the right, almost ignoring the left. Obviously I had unwittingly stayed in the light, and alienated one side of my audience, losing my connection. It was only a slight loss of connection; they were still laughing and eager to volunteer. But enough damage was done to make for a strange night. Anyone else had a similar experience, or any views on what happened? Tony.

That is extremely interesting.! Were there any audio difference? Monitors or the like?
Seasoned veterans would naturally play to the light, but in this case we must re-think that idea I guess.

Maybe you were left with the right because on this occasion you weren't right not include the left at least that's sounds about right to me.

Sometimes there are no explainations. I have tried for years to figure these things out, and have decided I cannot. I think in this case MP could be right again, but I didn't want to get left out of the discussion either.

You left my right hemisphere confused and my left hemisphere was the only one left in his right state of mind...

Light can have somethig to it though: saw ahypnotist that was inducing with eye gaze and I noticed all people which got a strong light reflection from stage foot light in their eyes as they gazed in his eyes seemed to go quickly in trance
when he oriented other people so no reflection hit their eyes as he gazed them they seemed to react slower |
