The John McNicholas Magician’s Round Table
Proudly Presents: Wednesday October 14th, 2009 DAMIAN the Magician Presents "Menu for Success" This lecture will be divided into two parts, Part I will deal with Restaurant Magic, how to choose a eating establishment, what to look for in a boss, dealing with the public, management and staff. I will discuss important details such as dress, achieving a professional image, being likable, contracts, topics to avoid discussing while at work, pocket management, tips, the use of business cards, getting leads for other jobs, and the most important thing of all: How to make yourself an indispensable part of the business. I will demonstrate a few card effects that will make you look like a star and provide a list of tried and true restaurant effects that play well anywhere. I will also give examples of effects to avoid. Part Two will deal with a few stage effects that will enhance one's image without breaking their budget. I will demonstrate and teach the Original Al Baker Newspaper Tear and discuss it's merits. For those who like silks and canes, I will demonstrate the correct way to do a triple color changing cane with a 36"silk finale. Many performers have a problem nesting three canes and the finale silk get twisted and comes out toggled. Years ago I developed a gimmick the virtually prevents a large silk from getting toggled and guarantees the final production to be flawless. In addition to this, there is no sewing involved, you can switch to another silk in an instant, and my system does not wear out the silk! I've been using the same silks for years and have never replaced them. I showed this system to Fantasio and he loved it. I've kept it under my hat for years. AT THE LECTURE, THE GIMMICK IS INCLUDED IN THE LECTURE NOTES! Bring your vanishing canes, a few 18"silks, and some double sided tape and I'll show you how to put this great opening effect in your show! For those who know Damian and his work, know the talent and professionalism this performer exudes. During these hard times, when many have dropped in their numbers, Damian has grown. Come out and see how this performers ideas and practices can help you with your magic and shows. I have to say that Damian's lecture was fantastic. One of the best and most
practical information I have gained on getting and working the Restaurant market. His presentation, information, and effects offered were definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks for this gem Eric....can't wait for the Carlson and Ammar lectures.
