I posted this in another section and it got no hits, so I toss it out here...

Along time ago, I heard someone (no idea who) perform a stage version of Color Monte using a very nice poem. Does anyone know of this poem, what it is, who wrote it, etc?

Don't know if this performer wrote it himself (possible) or if this was something that was out there...

I might be persuaded to write a rap for it... Smile

Maybe Tim Ellis could write a rap for it with you, still lovin' his Six card repeat.

There once was a girl who had an affair
With a boyfriend all covered with hair
She looked at his hat
And realized that
She'd been dancing with Smokey the Bear

This probably won't work for Color Monte, but I so rarely get to share this limerick.

Yeah...I don't think that was it. LOL!

Sad...I guess that poem will never surface...! It was a good one.

By the way... IMHO, the patter included with Color Monte is about as good as it gets. Why would anyone want to change anything? Would it make the effect stronger if it was a poem?

This was just something that I remember hearing many years ago...the poem was awesome and it fit the routine like a glove. Much like the Rub-a-Dub-Dub Cups and Balls. It was very cool...!

As a "serious student" of magic, I want to take it all that I can as we all should...!

A few years ago I wrote a poem that goes perfectly with Michael Skinner's Ultimate 3-Card Monte. It's called "A lesson well Learned". it was published in MUM magazine and here on the Café. Is that the one your looking for?

There is one called "Three Card Bunny" by James Munton, available at Hocus Pocus.
Here is a link to an older discussion of it. Perhaps this is what you are looking for?
