Quick question for anybody who owns this book.
This week I plan on purchasing 5 of the Dai Vernon books (the most popular ones) and I'm wondering if it'd be in my best interest to just purchase The Essential Dai Vernon which also includes (Dai Vernon’s Tribute to Nate Leipzig, Malini and His Magic, Dai Vernon’s Symphony of the Rings). The reason I'm asking this is because I plan on spending quite a bit of time studying these books and from the pictures I can find of The Essential Dai Vernon, the book seems EXTREMELY bulky (small width and length with ALOT of pages). Nothing irritates me more than an awesome book on magic that just won't stay open long enough to read anything in it. Hopefully some of the Café members here will understand what I'm talking about. Sometimes I get less out of the bulky books simply because they're too large. Any comments? All the Best, magicianguy4life BTW - I'm willing to bet those extra three sections are REALLY worth the inconvenience of a bulky book but let me know. Can't hurt to run it by the Café... |

It is kind of hard to read as well because it doesn't have a true table of contents and it doesn't show where one book starts and begins.
It is worth buying though since they will soon be OOP. Although.... Vernon's stuff will most likely still be reprinted. |

Thanks for the info. That's the exact kind of information I was looking for. Greatly appreciated.

It is very bulky, not good for traveling. I think the quality is fairly low, and sometimes I find it hard to keep the book open.
But its too good of a deal to pass up if you don't have any of the material. |

You'll see the book below a few others in this video, hopefully it'll give you a better idea of the size. http://www.vimeo.com/6247464

Thanks for the information (and clip) guys. I'm gonna pick the book up simply because it's a good deal but I think I'm still going to purchase the individual books for convenience (and historical) reasons. At least I now know exactly what to expect when the book arrives. I'm sure this information will be of much use to other people in the future. Thanks.
