What are some names of effects where the magician places a card face-down on the table, the spectator names any random card, and the card on the table happens to be the one the spectator named? Are there any impromptu effects like this? Thanks

A phychological card f***e I feel is one of the best ways to do this and is comepletly impromptu. Derren Brown has some excelent ones on his dvd, the devils picture book. There are many other people who have methods on this as well. I would try a search here on the Café and you will have some pop up.

You can find such an effect in Richard Osterlinds - Mystique.

Derren has some truly amazing work on this.
Spelmann has a very interesting take on this on his Chapters of Marc Spelmann DVD set. Bryn Reynolds has a beautiful one in The Safwan Papers called Seven that a lot of people praise (and for good reason). I personally use two methods depending on my mood. The first is a little more open as it seems a lot fairer and the second is just my take on equiovque regarding to playing cards. Joshua Quinn has same nice work on this in Paralies which is where I got the ideas for the 'procedure' of mine. |

I would second Bryn's "Seven."
In fact, it's the wallpaper on my Blackberry (talk about impromptu!) e |

There was a large thread on this just 10-20 threads down..... surely we're not gonna go thru the whole list again

It happens in every forum... In a way, it's more staggering that it's not even that staggering.

Hey guys! Thanks for the suggestions. I've checked some of them out and they look great! In addition to the ideas ya'll had, I found another really cool effect called the Boss's Ultimate Mind-reading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMqPte7uQo0
It looks great, but I don't think it's for sale. Matthew |

Check out Barrie Richardson's version of Any Card At Any Number in his books Theater of the Mind, and Theater of the Mind Act two.
There are two versions both are great! one is impromptu and the other requires a memorized deck. |

Entermagic, do you know whether or not this effect is impromptu? I have rewatched the video and I think I have a vague idea of how it is done. If the method is what I think it is, this effect is not impromptu. Thanks

The youtube vid and the Uri card were the 3 of clubs...Now what are the odds of that. 52 x 51 = 2,650 to 1..I might be wrong but they were both the 3 of clubs, now is that a coinsidence?
If I were to agree with you. Then we would both be wrong. As of Apr 5, 2015 10:26 pm I have 880 posts. Used to have over 1,000
