I'm currently working on adding thimbles to my repetoire, and I need some help coming up with the routine. I've been working on my sleights and misdirections, and I'm beginning to get them down. The next step is incorporating them all together in to a full routine. I am using a 16 thimble, multi-color plastic Vernet thimble set. 8 white, 2 red, 2 blue, 2 yellow, and 2 green.

I have the first part of my routine together which is an 8 thimble production from empty hands. First I show both hands empty, then I show one thimble on my right hand, then 2, then 3, then 4. I stop, look at the crowd, and suddenly I have 4 thimbles, one on each finger on my left hand. All white.

Now comes the part I need help with. Where should I go from here? I am planning on doing color-changing, and jumping thimbles from one hand to the other, but then I'm not sure what to do, especially for my finale.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Jeff

Well, usually the 8 thimbles on both hands is the finale, I would start with some vanishes and productions, move on to some colour changes which leads to a tecnhicolour thimble production (thats different coloured thimbles on each finger of one hand). Toss them down into your receptacle, retaining the white thimble and then do your 8 thimble production.

This is how I would do a thimble routine...

Whose to say the routine is over after an 8 thimble production? Buckingham does several 8 thimble productions throughout his routine. If it fits you, use a whole bunch of thimbles. I think that a 10 thimble production is much better than 8. Check out Ganson's Routined Manipulations, Shimada's Lecture video, and Buckingham's "It's Easier Than You Think" series. I hope this was helpful.

I thought I should point out these moves are not credited to McBride, he never invented these, he just teaches them on his videos.

I'm sure this is what you mean, but I'm just saying to clear up loose ends.

I am thinking of creating a little thimble routine as a "filler" eg thimble from silk, thimble through silk, thimble vanish in silk i like the sound of ur routine as a main routine - its sounds good; keep working and don't give up! Smile

I think I've finally figured out my whole routine, feedback would be most appreciated.

Part One:
Display a red thimble. Change it to blue. Change it back to red. Make a blue one appear on my second finger, then vanish it. Ask what happened to the blue, and pull it out of my pocket. Place it on my left hand. Now I have a red on my left hand and a blue on my right. Switch them. Switch them back. Take them and put them on one hand. Then make it so there is one on each finger.

Accept Applause and take them off.

Part 2:
Show both hands to be empty. Produce a white thimble on first finger. Produce a second thimble on second finger. Show both sides of hands. Produce a third thimble on third finger. Move the one off the second finger to the pinky, and then produce a 4th thimble. Suddenly produce 4 thimbles of different colors on the other hand. Smile, and show 4 different color thimbles on the original hand.

Bow...
