I can do each move pretty well, but I am having trouble doing a Retention Vanish with a Coin while another coin is in Classic Palm.

I know "Practice Practice Practice", but any tips from you guys would be great. That other coin in Classic Palm keeps popping out. Smile

(I'm a righty and the coin is classic palmed in my right hand. The coin I am "vanishing" will be retained in my right hand as well, but appears to be going in my left hand).

Try coating the edge of the classic palmed coin with Rosin, it will stay there better.

I am NOT an expert but it seems like You can do an RV without moving your thumb much at all. I'm sure you know how to do it but for me it's really just my middle and ring finger bringing the coin into fingertip rest, and if the thumb stays still it looks all the more like you left the coin behind in the left hand. What's really impossible (for me) is the RV with a coin in classic and a coin in downs. Luckily this doesn't come up much!

Sal, you can get rosin at a music shop. I used to use it when I was a kid for violin practice to prepare the bow. Smile But still think you can do it with good old, "Practice, practice, practice" as you said here initially. Smile

Salby use the base of the thumb to roll the RV coin into fingertip rest or FP. This way the muscles used to CP aren't trying to do double work.

Specifically, it is violin bow rosin, and a block of it is very inexpensive and will last you a lifetime and more. I think you'll be pleased with the result.

I suggest using either Roth's Rosin, or trying to not bend the 3 fingers as much as you might normally do it. If you keep the pinky squeezed, the coin might stay a little better. Also, try checking out David Roth's little practice routine with vanishing 4 coins using a retention vanish. It helps you practice doing the retention vanish with other coins in different palms. That can be found towards the back of Kaufman's CoinMagic.

Try the palm down retention vanish, fingertip retention is what I think David Roth calls it.

DAvid sells his rosin on our website in his product section. you can also go to a music store and buy violin rosin, there are many different types. There is a thread somewhere on this Café where people discuss all the kinds of rosin they have found.

Thanks guys for all your tips.

I'll try and get some Rosen from the Music Shop this weekend.

Basically, I am trying to do the "Ultimate (?) Wildcoin" routine that Doug Brewer has on his HALF AND HALF (Vol. 1) DVD:

http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/half-and-h......534.html

He explains that doing a Retention Vanish while holding another coin in Classic Palm is "Not too difficult."...... I beg to differ Smile

It's a pretty nice routine. Take it out when you can.
