Hands down .. David Copperfield. His yearly specials were like Christmas to me. I had seen all but the first 2 or 3 when they originally broadcasted.
All small town magicians know what 793.8 signifies.

Harry Blackstone Jr. ( I wish I had seen SR. Live)
Johnny Thompson Lance Burton Del Ray Doug Henning This is tough as I have seen some very good acts and each has his own strong points depending on what it is I am looking for. In the College Market, It was tough to beat Irv Weiner, Denny & Lee, or Craig Karges For Mentalism, Kreskin, Uri Gellar Family Magic show- Harry Collins Doves- Channing Pollock, Bob Downey Standup- George Johnstone, Mac King, Michael Finney, Jeff Hobson Illusions- Kalin and Jinger, Mark Wilson, Majestics, Novelty Acts- Mike Caveney, Hans Moretti Closeup- Karl Norman, Del Ray, Al Goshman It is just so hard to say five when there are so many ways to approach it as ones needs are met. In no particular order:
Doug Henning - My first magic memory is watching him doing the Water Torture Cell on television Bart Kennett - the black Howard Thurston, performed from about 1913 until 1924 Chung Ling Soo Theo Annemann - only a coincidence that the last two both did a bullet catching act Houdini |

Hey Sammy how's the book coming? Have you found the picture of Bart Kennett yet? Check the Chicago Defender because there was something from the California State of Northridge library they mentioned him. http://www.csun.edu/~htang/chicago.html There is no picture, but maybe if you write to them, they may have something in their archives.
