Agreed! I don't remember for sure if it was Dan who said this, but I believe he was presenting this at the latest New York Coin Magic Seminar this year.

Dan Watkins is a very talented coin man. His "Coin Man Walking" DVD has incredible routines and sleights and he himself has a wonderful performing style.

Hi Joe. Thank you for the compliments. I did perform and teach the routine at the recent NYC Coin Magic Seminar and it will be on their new DVD set in the future.
My website video is a few years old prior to me having a presentation for it. The DVD performance is better. The good news is that it is very easy to perform. You don't need to be a "coin guy" to do it. |

I watched it live and it is a beautiful effect. The only problem I see is getting such a lovely little chalice. Dan's rings like a bell when coins are dropped into it.

Exellent routine Dan.
Looking forward to the next set of NYCCMS DVDs and learning the routine. I love the idea of a chalice. Very magical.

I agree. I'm looking forward to learning this one also. I wonder if there are any chalice shops nearby.

You could have named it the charming chinese chalice...

I like this effect because it's pretty simple to do and plays well. As you know I like Quickie-Trickys or short effects that hit hard and are not difficult to do. This Charming Chalice is exactly that.
I first came on the scene with Dan's work many years back now and was just mesmirized by one of his simpler tricks, Lightning Copper Silver. It's a beautiful little effect and I must say of all his stuff it hooked me like nothing else. He likes using little things in his magic and this chalice is a similar sort of prop. Check around ebay or a brass curio shop out there and you'll find something comparable or just ask Dan "Coin Man Walking" Watkins. Another good job Dan.

I have several dozen of these chalices in both silver and brass...I got them at different antique shops..they really aren't that difficult to find.
