In my sincere opinion, the version that Yunkes give us is the best " Interlude " that I saw until now!
It`s much more spectacular than the " classic" presentation of the version above. Falconer

Let me say Steinmeyer is a genius and his interlude is pure magic but...
The question is simple to me: -Different effect: Interlude- girl passes through a man´s body Yunke- girl APPEARS from a man´s body -Different look: Interlude- the well known prop Yunke- apparently two poles and a sword -Different prop: Interlude- Apparatus contains all the "special things" Yunke- Apparatus is ungimmicked, the secret is "hidden" other way... -Different working: Not detaills here but body's position of both performers during crawling is not the same in Steinmeyer's/Yunke's version. So, Yunke's illusion is not Interlude, perhaps for lay people looks similar, but IS NOT Interlude. Im almost sure it was inspired from Interlude but inspiration is not copy. |

Dear friends,
I would say that Yunkes did better improvement in "Interlude" Illusion. Like I said, I prefer his version, I saw his performance alive in Portugal (FISM 2000).I saw and I heard the real reactions from the spectators during and after his show. It was very IMPRESSIVE and INCREDIBLE his version, it was and still is the most talked effect on Big Illusions. Please, can anyone give me his site ? Falconer

Ok there is no box but the sides covered with cloths that attached to the front of the two hatchets so he made the "box" different way. Don't get me wrong he is a great performer but still he does the Interlude just other way. The video is badly edited. You can see the by the Head Mover part the Head Box is disappear from the ground. By the way this kind of Head Mover effect needs only two people while Andres' needs 3 people. Best, Las |

Criss Angel have one " Interlude " very similar like Yunke use. The concept is the same. In my opinion both did improvements on original idea of Jim Steinmeyer.

In my humble opinion, Yunke's version is sleaker as firstly it does not seem that there is something hidden in a box. It has a DC's Cacoon kind of a look. Secondly when the monster comes out of the man his partner does not seem to struggle or take a tilt like you see in DC's presentation or for that matter Pendragons presentation. But definately it is inspired in technique and principle by the work of Steinmeyer. But does one have to take permission everytime? I mean who took permission for Zig Zag and for that matter levitations. Head Mover is also a version of a very old illusion where the head of a clown was cut and then reproduced on a different table. Did Kole also take permission from the inventor? Who was he? Or did anyone ever think to write to the brahimin who invented suspension in India?

I always enjoy reading these little arguments. But some people are ignoring the fact that the Interlude Illusion is based on an old clown gag. The earliest recording I recall of the illusion is an old silent movie by Buster Keaton, circa 1930's.
Don't get me wrong, Steinmeyer has some great illusions and I give credit when it is due. But in this particular illusion, based on an open source clown gag, do we pay performing rights to The World Clown Association or the Estate Of Buster Keaton? Anyone? G0THIKE |

The interlude & the gag as used by Buster Keaton are 2 different things (both in effect, method & design)
The "it's based on an old clown gag" is the excuse the copy cats use for illusions like the interlude, head drop & head mover but why do they never perform the old version but always steal the new version of a simular effect? (simply because they are not the same!) |

Hi all,
I never saw that " old clown gag " . But, in my point view, the version of Interlude Yunke is best until now. Falconer

Hi Falconer,
Here you see the "old clown gag" performed by Buster Keaton and as you can see it has nothing to do with Steinmeyers interlude (or Yunke's version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYHCuHmPi......index=18 (see from 01:30) |

El Rafael,
3 weeks ago I was hanging out with Circus Vargas as they celebrated their 30 years. I was actually talking to several old school Ringling clowns about this topic and they were laughing, most of their comments were "That old thing". Old school circus clowns have performed the effect using different methods and some have used fake legs, as well as the body twisting motion. I agree with you on the design, the Interlude, design and apperance is Steinmeyers. The actual look of the illusion. Even that falls under many "gray" areas. 1) Magician is in a vertical box, similar to disembodied Princess 2) Method is based on old clown gag 3) Additional method included a fake l#g gimmick, which have been used for decades in illusions like sawing in half. 4) In some countries just changing I believe 20% of a design makes it different in the eyes of the law. In the otherhand Yunke, even though I am not associated with him, he has his own design and his method is based on several other methods. The other illusionist I have seen perform a boxless version is Peter Marvey. G0THIKE |
