If you're up for some Halloween fun .. you should check out David's show at the Modjeska Theater in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I look forward to sitting back and watching one of the very best illusionists in his element. The theater itself is said to be haunted .. and it really does look the part.

Some of the classic illusions that are featured in the show include the Ashra, the Lion's Bride and even the intimidating Buzz Saw Illusion.

I'm making the trip up there tonight with the gang .. hope to see you there!

Alright .. lets see what I remember, it's been a few weeks. The drive up from Chicago was challenging with the Friday night traffic. We arrived just as the show began. The opening is a graveyard seen with David's appearance in the Mummy Case. This was followed by the Shadow Box and the Cremation Illusion. I think Dream Vision followed, the Giant Guillotine, Matida's Wardrobe and a few smaller effects. The first half closed with the intimidating Buzz Saw illusion.

Each of David's routines are fine tuned to perfection, presented in a classic style. Everything is well thought out and scripted. David reminds me of the Great Blackstone Jr. in many ways, maybe it's just his booming baritone voice.

Second half opened with a fun routine utilizing Abbott's Tabouret Illusion and the Drum Illusion on the oppsite side of the stage. I didn't take notes but, I think the Lion's Bride was next followed by the beautiful Ashra Levitation. Nothing is better than seeing this one on a full stage and well rehearsed. Where Does the Duck Go? and a very entertaining Spirit Cabinet routine were also part of the second half.

One of my favorite bits in David's show is the story. Each year he comes up with some creepy little gem that he captivates the audience with. There's always some sort of twist at the end and a little something to make you jump out of your seat.

The show ends with David's version of "Things That Go Bump in the Night" and the infamous "Black Out" at the end of the show. Yes, and old school "Black Out" like you've read in the books.

I've been attending the show for over 15 year now and I always enjoy a night of Halloween fun. David is at his very best in the old Modjeska Theater .. it's really a perfect setting for this type of event.

This is classic magic at it's very best!

Steve,

Thanks for the great review! I couldn't make it because I was performing FAB Magic Day in Colon with a couple "spooky illusions"; Crystal Casket and Head Chopper in the street followed by Justin's Hanging Straight Jacket Escape. A blustery ugly day in Colon, but the crowd was most beautiful! Another great time!

How I would have loved to have a jet that day to make it to the show accross the big pond afterwords!

Did/will David release this on DVD?

Best,

Christian

This has been an annual event for almost 20 years now. He's never had it released for sale but, I know it has been professionally taped in the past.

I was at the same show as Steve. David put on a great performance. Someone was taping segments of the show for a local TV program.

This was my first time to see David's show at the Modjeska Theater. It is the perfect place for a Halloween show. I took my son and we sat at one of the front row tables, great seats. It was good to see Steve and Valerie there.

Thanks for the link Rafael!

There are several video segments available to view. A guillotine, spirit cabinet, where do the ducks go?, etc. Great stuff.

I was able to see David's show this year; it was something I had heard about for a while and it had been on my list of things to see. The show opens with a beautifully creepy graveyard scene and continues to wind its way through magic and the macabre. David has amazing attention to detail and a gift for storytelling, and I hope the show will continue for years to come. What better way to set the stage for Halloween than at the Modjeska Theater with David Seebach's Illusions in the Night Smile
