Quote: Are you kidding me!? Every time a mentalist uses someone on stage, in a performance where the entire audience can't SEE the actual billet or final reveal, the person's response IS the prop. I never heard of people being used as props until I started reading at Café… but it made perfect sense. I think I'll leave this with us simply not agreeing. On 2011-09-26 19:57, mastermindreader wrote: I've never preached that. Nor would I ever. People are not "props." |

No, I'm not kidding you. Repeat - people are not props. (Just as characters in a play are not props.) They are participants. Props do not participate - they simply exist.
Here, from Wikipedia, is the generally accepted definition of what we mean by props: Quote: A theatrical property, commonly referred to as a prop, is an object used on stage by actors to further the plot or story line of a theatrical production. Smaller props are referred to as "hand props". Larger props may also be set decoration, such as a chair or table. The difference between a set decoration and a prop is use. If the item is not touched by a performer for any reason it is simply a set decoration. If it is touched by the actor in accordance to script requirements or as deemed by the director, it is a prop. |

Well, all I can say on the matter is if my worglefister doesn't cause the ammagamma to curdle, then who can say what life, or indeed hamtlewank truly means anymore...

I think Michael is right, I mean as he's magician and not mentalist I completely understand his point of view.
In magic show partner are props, spectators are props.

At last the worglefister/ammagamma/curdling debate. Why did it take so long to get here?
However, shfitzdungle should never be mentioned on an open forum.

I still used to have the original fold out Ogdens. Listened to it all the time when I was a teenager. It's my favourite small faces album. Great band, Marriot was brilliant!

When they re-issued it on cd, it all came in a little tobacco circular tin...
there used to be a video knocking about with Unwin on a throne, and Small Faces half miming half living to about 5 tracks of that album...very good if you can find it, probably on youtube... and a very good hip-hop guy called Edan sampled Ogden's on one of his tracks on the album Beauty and the Beats... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic... if you think about this particular "thing", it has another useful use - especially if you want people to pick up on any kind of psychic energy you may posess, or indeed any objects they might touch...

It also would be helpful if someone has a stiff neck and you want to help out.

Ultracinese is still a winner but takes practice, and the footswitch broke after a few
presentations. so I just brazed a movement switch instead of the footswitch on it and placed it with a piece of gafftape on my arm. when I slightly move my arm upwards it starts to go, when I move my arm just a little bit down, the nut stops. works just perfect:) best
