I had every Friday, Saturday and Sunday booked in October either selling balloon sculptures at a local tourist park or performing at the Zoo (Boo at the Zoo). Because of all the rain we've been getting here in the southern US, a lot of those days were either canceled or worthless due to poor attendance.
If it wasn't for my iphone app sales and my instant author kit, this would have been a much more difficult month. |

Based off what I'm hearing so far, the magicians who had the most Halloween shows for the season mainly worked schools, daycare centers, libraries and haunted houses. All of that is just fine.
I was just curious to see if others had significant bookings working other venues (country clubs, fraternal organizations, etc.) for Halloween. Thanks, Gerry |

I booked 2 Saturday shows at the last minute (booked one on Thursday and one on Friday), so I had 4 shows on Friday (2 school shows, 1 preschool, and a private party for 11 year old girls) and 3 on Saturday. I expected more for late Saturday night, but it seems as if most people had less than they expected. I should add, though, that one of my Saturday gigs was not a show, but rather palm readings, which I also promote.

I think I only did one private halloween show. Other than private shows, I did one big elementary school event called the "Big Boo" (2nd year in a row) and a supermarket's halloween blowout (4th year there) and another private show at a university housing event and the rest were preschools. I think I had about 10 of those which was my safety show. That's up from last year so I'm pleased.

One show at a resort shopping center. Very little advertising so very poor turnout. When I started there were three people there but by the end maybe fifty so at least I can say I drew them in to watch. Tough to get the energy up at the beginning but by the end of the hour and the straight jacket escape all was well.

I count 9 halloween shows (wuah ah ah)
Did that sound like the count from Sesame Street? 6 shows Halloween weekend. 3 Friday, 3 Saturday. 4 in New York, 2 in Connecticut. 3 others within the week leading up to Halloween. All these were private Halloween parties. 9 shows total with a Halloween theme.

I only did 1 proper hallowe'en house party show and 1 show in a hallowe'en show in a town hall. Also 2 b'days on Hallowe'en which don't really count. And 40 for a travelling theme park thingy which was on over the hallowe'en hols.
So um, 2 or 42 depending on how you look at it. |

It isn't how many - it is how much!
My annual goal is to do few show for more dough! And even more time with my family (the most inportant thing of all!) |
