Today. the FedEx man dropped off a Sixteen Pound Coffee Table... I mean Coffee Table book by Taschen, "Magic: 1400-1950." All that I can say is WOW!
It measures 29 x 44 cm (11.4 x 17.3 in.) with 650 pages beautiful pages! If you haven't ordered yours, do so. You going to want this one! Beautiful! I was looking forward to receiving this, but had no idea that I'd be so impressed! Kudos to Jim & Mike! |

OOPs! Where the heck do you get an archival dust jacket covering material for a book that is over 17 inches tall??? I buy a 200 foot 16 inch high roll of it every couple years. Gaylord or Brodart don't sell anything taller than 16 1/2 inches. Arrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!

Found it!! Thanks for tickling my brain into being able to source it:
http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=255& I can use butcher paper or white kraft paper for the backing material. Man this book is a behemoth! There is no bookshelf in my house that it will fit onto. Coffee-table book for sure! dsalley13 |

I think you better use the dining room table with the weight of this baby.
Now we all saved money buying from Amazon. If we take to the History Conference to get it signed, it will eat up the difference in price in the shipping to and back. Richard

My copy of the book arrived already three weeks ago. The book is absolute stunning! According to the packing slip the book is weighing 6.77 kilos. I still feel guilty. It was so obvious the postman was very, very curious what the hell was in that parcel. By probably some kind of job-related disability I have kept it a secret and told him he did not even want to know it. Anyhow he would not have believed me if I had told him it was just a booklet.
To leaf through the book already this is the link: http://www.taschen.com/lookinside/00378/index.htm Kind regards, Dick Koornwinder |

Demco has large enough dustjacket covers, and they sell them at an each price - I don't know what I would do with a box of 25! The price is $5.50 to $6.23 per cover. demco.com
What a book! It is well done, but hard to store anywhere in the house.

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I just looked up the dimensions and page counts of the three editions of this book that now exist, and thought it would be useful to record them where others can find them:
1) 2009, 650 pages, 17.3 x 11.4 inches 2) 2013, 544 pages, 15.75 x 10.5 inches 3) 2015, 384 pages, 13.3 x 8.8 inches |

Could someone tell me how much the original edition goes for?
