I was just browsing in the net and found this. Looks interesting to me. I wonder if I can use my hard figure head on this. I also wonder why they call it a "supernatural puppet".

Very interesting puppet. Of course with a little "human/puppeteer" animation, even a simple puppet like Nigel(a Folkmanis) can appear to take a few steps.
This bit gets a great reaction. I have to have a table or something to make this visible to larger audiences.

Something strange and charming about those puppets.
You can see the rods on the bottoms of the feet from the far angle, of course. But it's eerie how it seems to come to life, eh? Still, I think I'll stick with Louie and Sylvia and Cooter and Huck. They move ME. :) -Philip |

Looks neat to me! You could walk it out like video, and then with your back turned (and practice), quickly convert it to regular dummy ant set it up on your box for normal vent routine.

I might be getting this soon. I just don't trust the site because it has a lot of "pirated" tricks. But the walking puppet seems to be their exclusive.

That site has a forum (I think it belongs to them), can't understand it though, but maybe someone can. There maybe some info on the puppet there. Here's the link http://www.52magic.net

Just remembered this again. Still thinking if I should get one. Does anyone have it or heard any reviews?
I was thinking of making a duplicate head of my figure to replace that cheesy head.

These are cool, I wish I had a need for one and could justify buying one.
Actually, I wish I could see how they are built, I could probably make my own.

The puppets balancing is very good so it can stand freely, maybe there is a locking mechanism controled by the puppets hand.. I think the clever part is how to move the other leg to front, when standing on one leg sideway. Maybe the answer is using heavy part on feet and swing principle.

It doesn't look like it's using a swinging motion to walk, if it is, it must be very slight.

Finally got my Walking Puppet.
Here is the inside back view exposed. A standard headstick can be placed inside. I tried walking it out in the street and it looks like a midget walking. BTW, that is not the original face. I just placed a mask on it to look more realistic instead of that mannequin boy head.

Cool!
Does the head have anything to do with the walking like being weighted or something, or could it be replaced with a vent head? Can the puppet be made to sit when it's not walking?

It can walk without the head. As I said, you can use any standard headstick or vent head. No, it cant sit down. I would just operate the head while it is in a standing position. BTW, it does stand by itself.

I have seen this before but havenot taken the plunge, its a lot of money to send out to a relatively unknown companyy and I seem to remember seeing complaints here on the Café. How did you find dealing ith them ?

I had a feeling it wouldn't be able to sit, but like you said, it could just be used standing, but glad to hear the head could be replaced with a vent head, I may have to think about getting one. Look forward to hearing your response to George's question as to how it was dealing with the people that sell them.
