And if you want to get a really practical 3fly get a Tango Ike Slippery Sam and 3 Ike Dollars. You can find several 3 Fly routines out there.

Hey konjurer,
Hard to come into the Gaff Playland here and say learn the sleights and learn them well but that's exactly what I'm saying. I played with the gaffs coming up and most are one-trick ponies but though they can help you create miracles they can also be crutches that you really don't need in a lot of cases. I learned this too long after spending too much money on gaffed effects. So I sharpened my own hands and found out that I could do a lot more than I ever thought. Sure gaffs serve a wonderful purpose and have their place but sometimes they keep you from seeing the same kinds of greatness in yourself. I mean I can do a little something with sleight of hand stuff and I look like the wizard, Merlin with gaffs. My sleight work makes working with the gaff stuff even better IMHO but I'm real glad about the abilities I have with the sleights, not the gaffs. Watch a real good sleight of hand guy, say like Teller (from Penn & Teller) do his thing and then watch a guy do something impossible with a gaff and you'll come to understand what I mean here by the difference in deeper analysis and appreciation. Anyway, both these important parts of coin magic have their place...The real goal is to find your place. Good luck with that. And just to mention here that you might take a look at the offerings on http://www.VinnyMarini.com as it has a tremendous variety of coin work there and some gaff stuff too. Great value on some terrific magic and thinking. As a matter of fact, Tim Feher's NEW One Coin 2.0 is a great place to turn your eye without burning that $100 bucks way too fast. There's also a pretty nice and affordable 3 Fly download there too I hear...Not difficcult at all and it comes with no gaff coins included. Here's a little taste for you konjurer, a "Shorty" if you will from the package. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGKw2sc7akQ I guess you could do this little piece with gaffs but just why would you want to if you really didn't have to?

Thanks guys. I missed the last few posts on this thread and I appreciate the input. I have some ability with coins and I rarely leave home without a half in my pocket or in classic palm. The reason I want a gaffed coin is twofold:
1. Most of my practice time is devoted to a card project and my cups and balls routine. I'm looking for something a little less taxing to play with. 2. I don't own any gaffed coins and it's Christmas time. MB - love the $1000 3Fly!

TUC is the coin that you need.

Thanks Desmond. I'm going to order the TUC half dollar. I'm thinking about a couple other gaffs as well.
Do you guys think that a slippery half would be redundant if I have the TUC? Does it make sense to get two TUC halfs or should one be enough to get creative with? If I get two TUCs should I get a Copper/Silver half one or another regular half? Normal Copper/Silver coins are pretty inexpensive. Do you guys think that is a coin to have in my arsenal? Thanks again! So much good advice that it is still hard to focus in on a few gaffs. I better decide soon though if I want to have something to play with at Christmas.

If I was you, I would buy Doug Brewers Unexpcted Visitor Vol1, he is the king of sleight of hand while incooperating gaffs , but importantly on his dvd's he goes into explaining in detail, look what he does. Then decide what you want to buy. Half the the stuff you may buy,you will never use. A s---l, c/s coin. Hopping half set, your done. Also on this DVD there is one other thing, Eileen, she is worth the money for the dvd all by her self.
Cheers GG. |

TUC and slippery are different coins. But you can make many of the slippery effects with TUC.
First I would buy one TUC half dollar and one TUC copper and silver. Maybe in the future you could add a second TUC, but with only one you will play a lot. |

I do agree with desmond67. You do not need two of the same TUC coins at this time unless you have a specific effect you are looking to accomplish. I have the half TUC and if I were to buy another it would be the copper/silver one. Unless you buy a magnetic or locking slippery half the two will serve totally different purposes. If you wanted to add a very fun, easy to do coin gaff I would also recommend a good split coin. Another great gaff that you will have fun performing and will blow people away is a good copper silver brass routine. I would recommend only Johnson or higher quality sets.
When you get your TUC do not be disappointed. It's truly killer. AND much easier to separate than you first think. Just pm me if you need help. Mike |

Silver is nice but at the end of the day, even though they look better, you are buying them for yourself and it doesn't really matter to your audience. You will get a lot more bang for your buck with this list. You could pretty much go the rest of your life and not need another gaff. If you had this collection on your deserted island they would erect statues of you.

By the way .. what the heck does TUC stand for. We magicians are way too sneaky in our acronyms ... or should I say WMAWTSIOA?
