He credits the source in the title - John Cornileus. Michael Ammar teaches it in one of his Classic Renditions DVD series - Volume Two - Impromptu Rubber Band Magic - the "Fickle Nickel" is a bonus trick.

Learn this well and you have a miracle on your hands...

Marketed item, John Corneilus Fickel Nickel performed by Doug Henning many years ago on T.V. Nice coin effect but not quite impromptu.

So many ways to vanish a coin.... Why would one need a gimmick?

Phedon,

Perhaps you could point us in the direction of a vanish that is as clean as this?

Fickle Nickel isn't a coin vanish. It's a vanish and RE-appearance. knmagic - you are going to want to make the coin come back when doing this trick.

Looks like Cornelius still has it for sale on his site. Support the originator.

I still have this somewhere in my magic drawer. It's a great effect when done well but I have to agree with my friend phedon here about there being so many ways to vanish a coin (and reproduce it as well) that would work more immediately and impromptu much better. I believe mwmagic here on the Café does a really good version of this, so you might check with him as he had a demo up at one time I think. He did it really well.

Mb217,

Same question, perhaps you could point us in the direction of a vanish and reproduction that is as clean as this?

As a start I will say the L' Homme Maske load doesn't qualify.

Yes, so many ways to vanish and re-produce coin.

But NONE as CLEAN as THIS ! With one hand only, show both sides of the hand.

People should learn to appreciate gimmick Smile

And also, even though it's gimmick, you still need to bring your sleight of hand up to that smooth level to make the magic happen !

Good call Mike, I would agree with that aspect of it, that such effects are indeed fun. Smile

qureyoon, "But NONE as CLEAN as THIS ! With one hand only, show both sides of the hand."??? Really? PM me your email address and behold. Smile

KirkG my friend, hope your email is working now so you can check for "My One & Only," coming to theaters near you real soon. Smile

And, this particular method is stunning. Not very practical, but stunning.

If you loop rather than simply dangle the participle you can have a less angly (though more fragile) item to explore.

Can't believe I forgot about this gimmick. True it's gimmick but it's fun. Thank you all for the pointers.

Guys here's a tip. Look for Apollo Robbin's one handed coin vanish. I can't do it, but it is amazing!

John Carney has one too but I can't remember when and where I saw it!

Clean, but next to impossible method: Shoot Ogawa's "Shoot Shoots". Better warm up that muscle pass.

But it's about the cleanest one hand vanish that is pure so to speak that I have come across.

Mickey Silver crosses my mind as having the ret pass nailed...did he ever release the slot machine routine?
