The point he was making (which I agree with) is that the media's bias is based on how much money they can make from that bias. If suddenly there were no money in the Republicrat or Democan audience, the media outlet that caters to that world view would quickly cease to exist while they chased the money. How many major TV stations cater to the Libertarian party? The Green Party? The reason? No money in it. This ties into the current discussion and goes back to a point I made earlier - their only concern is with getting viewers, which equates to money. If that means endangering lives with pseudoscience or creating a panic when none exists, then so be it as long as it generates money.

I don't believe that for a second. MSNBC, no ratings huge bias. Air America, NY Times each have no money to speak of and huge bias. It was for a while cheaper to buy one stock in the paper than to buy the Sunday paper! No money there. Huge layoffs and they have HUGE bias. Money is NOT the prevailing theory.
I am just saying that it is not always money which drives these people. I wish it was, at least I could understand and respect that.

Danny, where are you getting your info from? MSNBC has better ratings than you think- if you look into the numbers, you'll find that some of the shows on MSNBC are just directly behind the shows on the Fox News Channel. From here:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/orig......2009.pdf Considering that FNC has far more carriers than MSNBC, that's not a bad number at all. Besides, their apparent bias lets them capture a demographic that Fox cannot. It's not necessarily about total ratings- it's about demographics as well. You don't see ads for Viagra on Spongebob Squarepants, just like you don't see too many ads for Frosted Flakes on Countdown. (As to your other two examples: - Air America has made some spectacularly poor financial decisions. Plus, the radio market has different considerations which are way to complex to go into on this post.* - All newspapers are doing poorly right now. * Although, I will say that you need to look at ratings in markets where products are in competition. For example, the ratings in a city where one station broadcasts Rush Limbaugh at the same time another broadcasts Randi Rhoades. This gives you a better idea of each show's relative popularity.)
Self-proclaimed Jack-of-all-trades and google expert*.

Oddly enough it does not give you any indication of anything. Air America is only working in very few niche markets that are extreamly liberal. It is not indicitive of anything but that spacific market. They are hemeraging money as is the NY Times no matter how you choose to spin it.
Spin doctor it any way you like MSNBC has no ratings except for a very few viewers. Oh and APARANT bias? Fox has a bias, so does MSNBC. At least admit it.
