A review.
Suffice it to say that if you currently perform any version of the diary trick, or are intending to do so, then you really owe it to yourself to read this book. In the main routine, Occasional Prediction, they take Cassidy’s seminal diary effect as a starting point and improve it! They have provided the ultimate alternative to the ‘why would you have playing cards written in a diary’ question. (Incidentally, there DOES exist a good reason why you would have playing cards printed in a diary. Ask me next time you see me.) Not only have they developed the effect into a more logical, fooling piece of entertainment, they have also added an extra climax, which concludes the routine in a most diabolical fashion and amplifies the effect considerably. I can well imagine this routine fooling many well-read mentalists, so of course, laymen won’t stand a chance. I will be very surprised if Occasional Prediction doesn’t eventually become the standard version of this effect. Yes, it’s that good. The rest of the book provides a lot more food for thought, as well as practical, performable material: Kennedy’s alternative presentation for the main routine, Colin’s Confabulation-style opener using a diary and finally two versions of a very powerful effect where a spectator correctly chooses the correct day for any named date. Highest recommendation. Mark Elsdon

Can you tell us more about the punch climax that involves dual reality? What is the effect? Thanks!

I seem to be on a roll resurrecting old posts. But is this still available from Colin and Ken?
