Hi
I'm looking for a certain routine - unfortunately I don't know what it is called... The effect: - three (or more) items are introduced to the spectator - the magician turns his back and asks the spectator to put the items into his pockets - the magician is immediately able to reveal which object is in which pocket and in addition he correctly predicted the outcome... Any hints where I might find a routine like this using everyday objects? Greetings |

I know exactly what you are looking for. It is an effect that I know as "Pen, Coin and Key" although any three small objects can be used. Unfortunately, I can't recall either the source or originator of the effect at the moment, but you might try a search using that title. Meanwhile, if I can locate the source or creator I'll get back to you.

Isn't there a version of this with cash? Three different bills in three different pockets etc

Andy Nyman's Dead Zone from his DVD set would probably interest you.

Thanks for your help so far!
I'm going to do some research on the routines you've mentioned. I have Freewill and it's good but not exactly what I'm looking for. There probably are some electronic devices like T*3 by Alakazam that would work - but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a single routine.. I found a routine using 3 DVDs in the wonderful book "Approaching Magic" by David Regal. Allthough I like the general method (s***d r*****g + m.c.), I don't like being limited to DVDs Greetings |

Dead Zone by Andy Nyman really sounds great but apparently it requires some sort of stooge? If so it unfortunately wouldn't work for me..
I found a electronic version of dead zone... for 1600$! Oh boy.. I could buy a car for that amount of money! Nu Sense seems to use some kind of mathematical method - I feel like that won't please me either... |

Wayne Dobson's "Taking Notes" is an up-close/cabaret version using cash. You must hold a business-card wallet while the spec. removes the cash from it, though. Still, it plays strong. At the monthly magic sale here in Fort Worth, it fooled a room full of magicians. It's been in my pocket for a few months, now. $40 retail... sound closer to what you're looking for?

Or the non-stooge version of dead zone called "Dead Phone" in Heptagon. Anyone Spot Andy Nyman in the artwork?

Nu-Sense is by far my favourite take on this plot and it's quite a ridiculously entertaining and hilarious display at the end.

Combining both Freewill and Nu Sense together works very well for me

There is also a version in The Drooby Book which needs neither stooges nor electronics.

T. A. Waters has a couple of versions in Mind, Myth & Magick, and Marc Paul has a variation using banknotes on his Mind2Mind DVD.

In all the others, you tell the volunteer which pocket to put their chosen object in. This seems more fair... after they choose, you say, "take that and put it in one of your pockets."

I have published two versions that follow this plot/theme:
a. "Location, Location, Location" can be found in 'Predict-Abilities' (Book Two in the Act-series). b. "Keep The Change" was contributed to Entity's wonderful 'NW-Project'. Mick
