Not sure where this discussion fits best, but thought it would be interesting to find out what others have discovered as far as magical concepts being used in children's toys lately.

Maybe it's just because we're getting close to Christmas now, but I've been noticing a lot of these things coming out in new products. The most recent is something marketed for young girls called Flitter Fairies - a small doll with electric wings that "flies" when attached to "pixie silk" (inv****le th***d) that clips onto your hair or clothing. Sounds a bit like a Fearson hookup, doesn't it? (You can see video of it on - and they've also got a new levitation device that lets you float anything under 3 oz. above a small magnetic platform, which seems pretty cool.)

Anybody see anything interesting?

Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki came home with a little toy dog that does back flips. He built a dog house from Dollar Store foamboard in which to make it appear and disappear and has started putting together an amazing routine that includes some "invisible dog" bits, plus a lot of other funny doggie bits of business. It will be item #10 in The Wizards' Journal #18 in a few days when he finishes taking the photos. I believe he will also make a video soon, once he has performed it a few more times in public. Not bad for about a total expenditure of $15 and a few hours of easy construction work.
