Hello. I was reading through Tarbell V6 and found a lovely "cups and balls" routine called Tarbell's "Flower Pots and Oranges" (page 48 if anyone wants to check it out). In the routine, he uses latex oranges made out of thin rubber that can be compressed and folded. Does anyone know where to get a hold of some of these? Or, any ideas for something that could be substituted for them and then made to look like oranges. Thanks for any help.

Twister Magic is out of oranges; sad, sad. They do seem to be high quality. It seems to be the only source I can find.

I have the cups that Tarbell used for that routine.

I thought they were just plastic flower pots that he specially gimmicked with the wire?

The cups he actually used did not have a wire gimmick. I know, I own his cups. They were part of the Jay Marshall estate. I won the plastic flowerpots and a set of aluminum cups that he painted green at the last Jay Marshall auction.
He most likely showed how to make a gimmick out of wire because most magic students did not have a way of making a gimmick like the one he used.

Interesting. It is an interesting concept of releasing a ball into a cup, and one that I have only seen there. I'm sure Tarbell's actual method is even more interesting, must be a nice collector's item.

If you go to the cups and balls museum web site and look on the page called "Cups of the Greats," you can find a photo of the cups, as well as a photo of the interior and exterior of the gaffed cup.
Cups on that page are listed by the last name of the performer.

Its also nice to see the original of something. That museum had quite the collection. I'm curious if the red dots had something to do with his routine, or if it is for direction. If the cups have similar method as the ones in the volume, maybe the dot covers that.

On one of the cups, one of the dots covers the trigger for the gaff.

I figured there must have been a more secretive way to pull it off than the wire. I have been thinking about adopting the routine. There are changes in mind for the gaffed cup, but I like the "flower pots" idea. It definitely is a unique presentation and has a lot of room to inject personality. I'm curious at what I could do with it. Now, I just need to find myself some latex oranges.

It would help if you would post prices for your products on your web site.
BTW, the products from Argentina and the products from Spain look identical in the photos. Are you the original source?

A person on the Café posted in another area that Owens is no longer making their latex items. Don't know how true that is currently, but I thought I would just mention it.

And while we're on the topic... Pretending to kill a dove isn't comedy. Just saying.

No, you are right. To achieve true comedy, you have to REALLY kill the... never mind.

Hi, my name is Felix from Spain, and I am the owner of Magiclatex. I do not have prices because I am a wholesale distribuitor to Europe, but if anybody need any product I can sell him. I can send by mail a price list in usd. These products became from Argentina, and some of them are painted and improved with details in Spain to guarantee the best quality possible. I think in a near future some magic shops of EEUU will have in stock our products. I enter in this forum only to trying to help people , because they said they were waiting some years for products , it is not my propose to sell 2 ro 3 products , but I am a professional magician http://magofelix.com/ and I know that wait for a product when somebody has something in mind is very annoying
I hope I can help you and also hope see you at the French Convention in Paris and in The world magic seminar at Las Vegas in March. Sorry for my english Felix |
