Could anyone say what a rough estimate in cost would be to put on a good hour, to hour and a half school assembly program? General stage magic, not necessarily with a message or anything. Just general entertainment for entertainments sake.

Also is there any certain illusions and effects that you would recommend big or small?

I'd like to see a Rabbit production, Losanders floating table, Milk Pitcher/Funnel, Comedy Egg Can, Misers Dream/Chocolate Chip Cookie Classic etc...

So anyone know of some suggestions for on stage school assembly magic? Also the rough (and it can be very rough) cost of a complete show?

School assembly shows are typically 45 minutes (often two shows back-to-back). I've seen some magicians charge as low as $200 up to $1,800.

You can entertain your audience with $500-Tricks and with $1-Tricks. So it is up to you how expensive your school show will be. If you don´t have much money look for the inexepensive tricks that entertain - they do exist.

There are DVDs made explaining school assemblies. A couple will be listed somewhere on the following page: http://www.igroops.com/members/magic/ecommerce

Where are you planning on doing an hour and a half assembly program? Sounds like you need to really be researching your market before creating a show or assembly program. School programs must work on several levels to be successful - the administration and faculty need to see it's benefit and value, the person or committee booking you must find it to their liking, and of course you must win over, hold and impact or entertain the students, all at the same time.

Slow down, get the facts or you can get eaten alive!

Most schools do not have the budget for a show that is just for entertainment...the majority want a message that fit into their curriculum. You may be able to market a fundraising type show or a short fun show for ice cream socials and the like.
