JL Magic has come out with a new set they call, Professional Multiplying Wand Set.
http://www.abbottmagic.com/Professional-......DSET.htm Yo Kato methods are superior to JL after watching the promo video. The additional wands would make a nice extended wand act. Wmhegbli,
How is your wand manipulation routine coming. Have you added anything from the Yo Kato routine? |

Brad, I am using the Yo Kato wands with the Shoot Ogawa routine, and putting the moves from Yo Kato into the routine. I like the instant color change, and production of 3 red wands.
JL Magic has also come out with a 5 wand set as well for under $25. |

Receive my set of 5 Black JL Multiplying Wand set yesterday. The wands are a little thicker material then the UGM wands. Thus a little stiffer plastic material. They have white tape ends, and are not rolled perfectly, by that I mean, they seem to want to straighten out a little at the split.
When all 5 wands are nested the last wand doe not meet or overlap, there is about a sixteenth of an inch gap. They are 12 inches in length and the white tips are 2-3/16" of an inch in length. The 5 wand production routine is simple and is well within anyone reach or skill level. It come with computer printed paper instruction sheet, both sides, but really not very clear. It also comes with a DVD, that looks like the same DVD is included with the complete professional set. The DVD is in Korean, I think, as this is a Korean product. Not knowing Asian languages I can only assume this is the case. There are no sub titles or voice over, but it seems the young lady is giving detailed instruction on setting up the prop for working. It is either the language takes longer to say something or we, who do not understand Korean, missing a lot of good information. The DVD is not made as a silent DVD as in the UGM wands, so I don't know if there are details I am missing. As she does pause while talking, and pointing. One can understand the setup of the wands and production, but again are their details missing. I would think, there are, but I am only guessing. The video is short and only covers the 5 wand production, the instant double and triple color change and the muti-wand production. Just producing 5 or 4 sets of 5, each a different color. It shows the gimmick which is easily made, but do to the language barrier, again details of a pin and square patch on the elastic gimmick is still a mystery as to it use. I can only take from this, that none of the JL Company employees speak English. It would have been very easy to have a voice over on the DVD. I am neither thrilled or disappointed with the JL 5 wand set. Sort of okay with them, as I was when I ordered them. I bought them more to have a regular size 5 black wand set to be used with my colored UGM set of wands. So far they are meeting my purpose. |

Anyone try producing a silk from the wand to start the routine off with a magic flare? If so. what was your style, the old flower lapel type of production, the hank ball type of production, or the Rice idea from the Palmo ball instructions, stealing a silk ball from the end of the wand?
Creative ideas, anyone? |

I perform a wand spin tap may hand and a 18 inch silk suddenly appears admist confetti. I then go into my wand routine. It's a very pretty opener.

Brad, thanks for the post, it is nice to hear when others are thinking outside the box as well and trying to create a magical experience for their audiences.

Wmhegbli, what do you do to produce a silk for your wand routine or are you still in the development part?

Yes, I am still in the development stage, I was thinking of either the quick draw done or hank ball type of production, whichever looks better. The wand being held at an angle, so as not to draw suspection.

Ive seen shoots lecture and I purchased his wand DVD. I made my own set like his fairly easy. I got wooden dowels of the size I needed at a craft store and painted them the colors I needed. The benefit of wooden dowels are there weight. They are light but rigid enough to execute the flip stick moves he covers quickly and silently. hope this helps.

I've just purchased the JL professional set, and for my immediate purposes I think I'll do quite well with them. However, the instructions -- as mentioned -- are far from adequate, so if anyone has any tips, alternative videos they can point me to or any other kind of help, I'd love to know what else these things can do, beyond what I've been coming up with on my own. So, please let me know
Thanks! |
