Hey guys,
For those of you who have seen The Illusionist with Edward Norton, does anybody know where I can get the trick where he is making the orange slow down in his hand on stage? Is this trick even real, or is it just done for the film? If it's real, I'd love to know where to get it!! Thanks, Brooks |

Yes, this was just for the film. Though you could recreate it on stage, there is no marketed effect that is specifically this.

It would be cool if you could buy it.

It would be so expensive, no one would buy it.

If you are working on stage, it can be done for less than $5.00.

Bill, Here is your chance to become a millionaire. When will the slow falling orange fruit be available from you. As seen in the Illusionist movie, is a good tag line for the product. You have 2 sold already.

Your kidding me... right! I think Bill is being conservative with his price. I can do it for about $4.00 plus an Invisible assistant. ( Remember this is for a stage and stage only performance. ) Cheers Chris

No extra assistants needed when you're already born with 2.
I've developed a method for this illusion for a client of mine to use on a theatrical piece. Didn't spend more than 2 bucks on it, by the way. |

Reminded me of that trick where you slide the block of wood down the string really slow and no one else can... name escapes me at the moment.

Cubio. There's a video of a professional, jumbo model on youtube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cESrn2POB4k I once colored half of the white cubio string black and as the cube slid up and down, it would stop in the middle of the white section to answer a question as "yes" and the middle of the black section if the answer is "no," based on the significance of white and black in the yin/yang principle. My cubio was a metal cube and it was possible to set the string with one hand so that the cube could be handed out both before and after the effect. I also worked on a routine using the cubio trick as a "sex detector"--the type where an object dangled from a string would go in either a circle or straight line depending on the sex of the person whose hand it was held over. AS I recall, the effect was also at one time called "Blondin." ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez
