Does anyone use a padlock instead of a ring for some effects (a small TSA travel lock, perhaps)? I'm thinking of effects where this might work.
For example, for coin through ring in Bobo's MCM, have the spec lock the padlock on the napkin and hold the key. Afterwards, give them the lock and have them open it. I thought this would make an effect even stronger by getting the spec more involved both during and after the performance. And imagine the great tale you can spin about lost luggage or airport security! |

The only problem I see is that a lock is a mechanical device that opens and a borrowed finger ring most definitely does not. Your audience might conclude that the lock can be opened somehow without the key, thus diminishing the whole array of penetration and transportation effects you can perform with a borrowed finger ring.
It would be nice to find something to do with all those TSA travel locks that I can't use on luggage anymore though! |

Yes DDecae, I can see the pluses and minuses you point out. I thought with the TSA lock I could make a nice story about how the airline lost my luggage and all I have was this lock - and no wonder - the lock doesn't hold anything!
