In Britain it would be Christopher Biggins but because of the way you phrased the question I'm wondering if you meant 'Mime' artist in which case I would give a different answer....perhaps Les Bubb

I just had a show in Switzerland with Les Bubb. Ihis guy is realy amazing. I think it's impossible to find the "greatest" in any discipline. It's hard to judge. What I like about Leslie, is his precision ant the courage to go in new directions.

But take a look yourself:

You did say living. I am not sure if Robert Shields is still performing, but it was great in his day. The one I feel is the master at illusion and faces is Cary Trivanovich. Of course Richmond Shepard.

I'll have to give a nod to Teller. Misdirection and pantomime intersect with him.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but how about Bill Irwin. He is a good mime as well as clown.

I absolutely love Avner Eisenberg. He's a great performer and teacher to study with.

I love Avner the Eccentric's act. Definitely agree with you. He's great.

Other great pantomime performers who do magic (as opposed to straight mime acts) are:
