I'm sure the Café members are looking forward to one of your "brutally honest" reviews! |

The first I thought was let me see inside the litter. You could even see the girls trying to look in it. You know in the real world a lot of people will want to see in the cup immediately, so can you? I assume not. Also can you use other liquids beside coffee? This would not be practical for non coffee drinkers like myself.

Other handlings include vanishes where the cup is shown empty at the end and also a transposition where the coffee changes into coffee beans (or another object). Can the cup be examined at the end? You will learn handlings (including some of the crushed cup handlings) that allow the cup to be examined at the conclusion. It is important to keep in mind, though, that after you crush the cup it becomes litter in the spectator's mind. Is it limited to coffee shop performances? Although coffee shops are a great venue, Mojoe also works with a variety of drinks in your home, on parlour or stage, or anywhere that a cup of coffee, soda, milk, etc. can be introduced. |

I ask questions because I grow tired of misleading demos. Audience reactions in demos are wishful thinking, or the more ideal reaction you can hope for. But reality is not always like that regardless of how you handle it. I will wait for reviews.

That means, they become part of a seamless series of effects, during which spectators are so busy being amazed, there's no time for them to start examining your props. For my purposes, if this effect is practical to use as a walkabout effect, it's a moment of huge impact, which would be perfect misdirection for another move. As the spectators watch the crushed cup being tossed into your bag (all eyes on the cup because, as you say, there is some heat on it), you secretly slip a 5Kg bag of coffee beans into a previously empty bag on the table (or whatever). It's a question of realising the timing of effects like this, and how they could play out within a more complete routine. Potty |

Another quick question related to routining for anyone "in the know" or if John K. is still browsing .....
any problem with doing the setup for this 15, 20 even 30 min in advance? Or would cup have to be rigged seconds/minutes before performing ? and one more (not a deal breaker) could a white foam cup be used? or just paper/ceramic? (easy to buy a sleeve of 20/30 white foam cups at most any grocery store)... thanks.. -Mike Still liking this trick alot... shipping yet?? |

This would have to be a great trick coming from John Kennedy I would have to believe. I can't think of anything he has out there that isn't at worst case scenerio good(understated of the year and a little sarcasm there). I agree with some of the posts and I think after seeing the demo myself I have some of the same questions they have asked. But although I have never met John Kennedy, Dean Dill who has become a dear friend of mine has always spoke of John with high praise and respect for his creativity, genius, but most of all his thinking behind what he puts out. That endorsement alone for me will have me purchasing this effect from John. To be honest, even if Dean hadn't have said all those things to me for the last 3 yrs I probably would have still purchased this based on what I have seen John put out in the past.
John your legacy in magic speaks for itself as far as I'm concern and although I've only been in magic for 5 years I can only hope that one day someone can say A tenth of the nice things I have heard about you and your contributions to magic. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! |

Steve Travis is right on. John Kennedy has put out some simply incredible effects. Specifically, Mind Power Deck is possibly the most beautiful mind reading effect I have encountered. It really seems there is NO WAY you can know the card the spectator is merely thinking of. Again, good routining is required, but boy, it's HOT!

I've learn to trust John and his ideas. This blew me away and I immediately asked John if I could offer them as well. I don't promote a lot of other peoples effects but this one looks and feels like real magic.
Congrats John on another winner! To answer a question someone mentioned.....it says right on the ad copy that it can be done with other liquids. " MOJOE also works with different drinks like Coke®, milk, etc. MOJOE sets up in seconds and the durable gimmick lasts for years! " All the best, Kranzo

Well done John. Personally I think the trick looks brilliant. I have stared at the video a number of times now and I must admit I am bewildered!
The reaction of the girls says it all, it seems fun, surprising and mystifying... almost like good magic. EXACTLY like good magic. THAT'S why I bet it would be fun to perform. Limitations? I'm sure there are... so what? A "DL" can still blow peoples minds so who's afraid of some limitations when great reactions await?! I would LOVE to have a play with this as I visit a LOT of coffee shops and run a small snack bar myself. I know my customers would be picking their jaws up off the floor.

(i digress...)
agreed.. every trick has some type of limitation(s) which keeps it short of true magic. However, I'd contend the great thing about this forum (and this thread in particular, my favorite thread) is that it has considerably improved my magic buying satisfaction batting average. I bought "the converter" recently after watching demos and reading reviews and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. It was pretty much exactly what I expected it would be. (a good thing).. I have an idea or two about how this effect is accomplished (minimal importance) but seeing the effect and having been able to read responses to reasonable inquiries (maximum importance)... I have a pretty good feeling about this one...?... ...........but alas, I have a few garbage gadgets in the bottom of my magic drawers/boxes to remind me magic trick buying is never a surething..... |

I started performing in a coffee shop and JK's Double Whammy was the very first trick I did there and then came thread from body and others and then onto house parties. The video looks really good and I will be picking this up. Great stuff again John.
