Hey!

Anyone know of a coin (I don't mind if it is a non UK coin) that is the same size as a UK £2 coin but is copper please?

I know a 2p coin is almost but it is a little smaller. I am looking for something like a 1/2 dollar and old English penny type of situation to get a custom gaff made.

I've asked about and drawn a blank...

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, that coin won't work, aitchy.

The newfoundland Victoria Penny is 25.53mm and the UK £2 is 28.4. I am slowly working on a coin list with different sizes of coins for our purposes specifically. Check the link in my signature.

So far, I do not know of a coin the same size as the UK £2, let alone a copper one. Hope you find something!

Aitchy, lorenwade,

Thanks guys. I would appreciate it if you do let me know if you come across something, so far my cup runeth dry!

There's a guy who runs a market stall locally, he has coins, medals, notes etc and I have tried and tried many coins. Will keep trying and post here if I do manage to find something.

Okay. The Royal Mint is issuing a collectors medal. It's the same diameter. It's silver (colour) and the closest match so far. Okay for a Doctor Who presentation but I am looking for a copper coin if poss. Still, at least I managed to find something!

What about an old 10p? They're silver though but the same size...

I have finally found you some coins, my friend...

The 10p is too small as well. It's 24.5mm, I'm pretty sure.

Copper:

Nickel:

Chinese:

And I would buy the chinese coin just for transposition, copper/silver routines. (no gaffs of course...)

Here's the key to your searching.

Go to eBay, type 28.4mm and hit search. Then choose the Coins and Paper Money Category. Here's the most important part. Check the box under the search box that says "Search Title and Description"

That's how I finally found these for you. Getting a few more of each of those coins would definitely take some time, but I'm sure you'll be able to get more coins this size now. That copper british coin should work just perfect for what you want!

Hope this helps man! Smile

EDIT:

Found some more by searching this exact term (including quotations): "28.4 mm"

I meant the old 10p, the two shilling piece.
ON wikipedia it gives £2 coin a diameter of 28.4mm and the old 10p/2 shilling 28.52mm so there's a difference of 0.12mm. given that the 2 shillings are older they are likely to have worn a bit smaller.
I use old 2 shilling pieces / and £2 coin interchangeably in coin coxes / ex [ etc.

That Rhodesian 2 shilling piece is the same as a British 2 shilling piece.
2 shilling pieces were used as 10p pieces for years after the decimalisation. There are loads of 2 shilling pieces/old 10p/florins around in England in coin shops, car boot sales etc.
