Are there any good Brick and Mortar shops in San Diego? I'm in Chicago so I'm not familiar with San Diego. A friend of mine's son is getting back into magic and while the online shops are good if you know exactly what you want, you can't beat a real shop for support. advice, getting what you really need.
Thanks

There are no good shops in San Diego proper. There is a nice shop in Temecula, which is up I-15 about 45 minutes from downtown San Diego. Limited hours now (Thurs-Sat, afternoon unless you make appointment). Not as big a stock on display as some stores around the country, but more than others. Well run by Sam and Chris Blankenship, who are very knowledgeable about old and new effects and are always willing to work with experienced and less experienced customers to ensure that they tailor their advice to the person. They also have a terrific website, at trickshopmagic.com, where you can also often "chat" live with a magician, or you can call the store for advice if you don't want to make the drive, and still take advantage of their online prices. On another topic, your friend's son should strongly consider joining the local Ring 76 in San Diego. Frequent lectures by top magicians, and talented and helpful members.

There is a semi-new shop in Vista since this original post was made.

The shop is managed and operated by James Kellog III.
