Hi Guys
I've carried out a search but couldn't find any results for the following: (Perhaps I'm not using the correct keywords but you have to wait quite a while between each search so it could just be me) Anyway, here goes. I think it would be nice to compile a list of really good packet tricks that DON'T use normal cards. E.G Horsin Around by Nick Trost, Salesman's Night Out, Color Monte, Alien Autopsy, etc. I think these sort of packet tricks break things up a little and give a great excuse to carry out a casual deck switch or load. Anyway, I would really love to hear which effects get your votes, and then who know perhaps we can compile a comprehensive list. Looking forward to your contributions. |

Gypsy Monte by Paul Wilson uses Tarot Cards.
What about Jumbo Cards, do those count as not being regular? Aldo Colombini's Pick Me, Pick Me Not uses Jumbo Cards.

I've seen a presentation of oil and water using the circle and wavey line cards from an ESP deck to represent the oil & water.

If you have some index cards, a pen, and knowledge of false counts and DLs, you can pull off a lot with improvised cards that aren't even printed at the start of the effect.

I like your thinking MacGyverMagic.
Chris, I don't think Jumbo cards counts as they are normal cards just larger (Also probably a bit of hassle to carry for walk around) Some nice suggestions coming through, keep em coming and I'll start to put together a list that can be posted up. |

Hi Dank1
I've often thought about getting Dirty Pools By Michael Hout. I see you've put it at the top of your list, is this as great as it sounds? If so, how well does it play in the real world? Many Thanks |

Truesoldier, a few jumbo cards fit nicely into an inner breast pocket for walk around. At one time I used to finish my walkaround set with a jumbo packet effect. I discuss somewhere in "Small But Deadly" how they can be effective closers. Probably in my chapter on jumbo packet effects. A few other good ones I can think of off the top of my head are: Water to Wine, Cloned Something From Nothing Vampire Dawn Monster Mash The Handy Trick Collection Especially Wild Fortune Gourmet Mouse The Vain Queen Fly Cards Tamariz Rabbit Lots of tricks like these can be found referenced in the book "Small But Deadly" which is all about different types of packet effects and their evolution. Paradise Lost is fantastic. Got mine about a month ago! Since I do casual magic, been working on a patter that keeps attention, but is essentially the same. So far it's been coming along, and it begins with "Have I ever told you about my cousin that went to mardi gra and never came home?" They get extremly interested and ask his name to which I reply "I don't know." Which sets the story to where they get the ending right when the climax comes. Thanks by the way Christian!

Hello Café,
I'm not very versed in the use and protocol of this forum and but I do know secrets are not divulged but I could use a little help. I picked up Aldo Columbini's Shenanigans from a retiring magic shop owner that are in very good condition but they didn't have the instructions. I haven't been able to view the presentation on youtube yet, but I'm sure I would have better luck learning the trick with written instructions with at least the base of patter. Any help?
