For those of you who aren't linked to Ron on fb, he was activated today. He doesn't have a total grasp of the meaning, but his brain is registering the input. Ron has been a champion of the deaf as well as new magicians. Any enhancement of his communication is a benefit to us all.
As someone who has seen him perform, I am excited to see where this latest advance takes him.

I just wanted to stop in and thank you all for your support. I won't go into too much detail right now because it's only been about 5 hours since I got turned on and I'm still in a sort of daze about it. I'm hearing sounds and just now starting to be able to distinguish what I head from any background noise that's around. You don't believe how much there is (You all probably just ignore sounds like the computer fan). When I pick up a sound like a voice I can't tell what it is. I just heard a "buzzing" or a "Squawk" sound. But that's to be expected at first. My brain is relearning to hear.
Right now I'm in a sort of "training" program. Basically I have to turn it up a little every once in a while to sort of challenge myself but never so high that it's uncomfortable. Tomorrow I go back and get more adjustments made. I'll have to go in for a number of "Adjustments" in the next few months. So I'll come back tomorrow and share more details and some of the sounds I've experienced. Thanks again everyone. Ron Jaxon |

Hey, even if it only lets you hear oncoming traffic, that's a real benefit! Sounds like it's going well, though. Best wishes, Ron!

Rock on!
One time, when I was young, I botched a sleight so bad, Vernon, Marlo & Miller rolled over in their graves. But I didn't see Elmsley, probably because he was behind the others.

Ron,
I'm glad it went well for you. Pretty soon those squaks you hear will change to actual words! It was great corresponding with you the other night. Thanks for the link. The implant is indeed a magical thing. Best wishes and happy holidays. Jay |

Thanks everyone.
I started a Twitter to share sounds I hear for the first time. http://twitter.com/JaxonSound I tried twitter before but I couldn't get into it. I'm not one to say short message all the time. But some have suggested I make one for my return to hearing so I figured I'd give it a try. At least it's a topic I can share some things about every day. So if you want to see some of sounds I'm discovering. Join my twitter. You won't believe the little sounds that are amazing to me right now. Ron Jaxon |

Ron do you have the ability to turn off the sound when you don't want to hear what some blabbermouth is saying. Last night my neighbor's dog was barking his balls off all night while I was trying to sleep. I sure wish I could've turned off the sound. Glad to hear about new found hearing, great feel-good news.

If you plug in an iPod, don't turn the volume up too loud or you'll go deaf....oh, um, congrats, Ron!

LOL
Yea, I even have a remote control so I can turn the sound off without anyone knowing. That's gonna come in handy. Another cool thing is I'll be able to adjust how far away I can hear. So if I was in your situation where my neighbors dog is barking. I can just adjust it so I can't hear that far away. Or in a loud room and you're sitting across the table from me. I just set it so I can only hear as far away as you are from me. It's some awesome technology. Ron Jaxon |
