I was just wondering what people have found to work best for them when putting ads in magazines targeting kids shows.
Do you put in a picture of yourself or just your logo? Phone number and website? Have you got different results from different ads? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Here's the formula I use:
- Benefit oriented Headline - A few Bullet points of benefits - An easy offer - A Guarantee - A call to action - Phone number - Website - Benefit oriented photo with you in it(people want to see that you're not creepy looking) Also, check the magazine before you put the ad in to see what others are putting in their ads. You don't want to say the same thing that a number of others are. For example, for a while in my market, every magician offered "Your child will float in the air". Well, if everyone's offering the same thing as you, you won't stand out. Offer something different. Also, check the color schemes of the ads on the pages where yours will be. Lots of folks like Red & Yellow because, in general, they stand out. But if all the ads are similar in color scheme, you can pick an off color and really pop. Here's another little trick. You can direct them to your website for a coupon or free report. Once there, they can be directed to a longer version of the sales process. Lastly, test, test, test. Have fun! -John Abrams |

Oh, I forgot. Put in a great testimonial if you can fit it. Celebrity would be best.

Always good advice to look at what everyone else is doing and do the exact opposite.
Here's another tip on Parent Mags... ask exactly where they're distributed before you sign up to place ads. A local one in my neck-o-the-woods used to get distributed at a major retailer -- and my ad worked like gangbusters. Then, the retailer stopped distributing it... and the leads dropped significantly. Make sure the mags are placed in locations where the clientele have reasonable disposable income to consider hiring you. --Jack
