I do not currently use them, but I am working on a new set of modern and updated designs for them. Just taking me some time to designing and creating. The idea is that you can do anything with them. Think along the lines of changing the kids into characters or actors who help you to tell a magical story. There is just so many ways to use these that I do not want to hinder your own creativity by telling you what I do personally.

Allow yourself to expand your creativity and think up wonderful ideas that you can use that fits your show, your character and your style. To get you started, here is a premise for an idea.

How about you are trying to turn someone into a rabbit. But everything goes wrong. You can use a change bag and comedy wands and the child helps you tochange them into a rabbit but each time they are changed into something different. Of course at the end you could produce a real rabbit or a silk that has a rabbit on it or use a comedy roll out wand with a picture of a rabbit and a hole cut out for the child's head as well. just something to get you thinking is all.

They have been around for years. Many different places used to have them, carry them and sell them. I have seen many performers use them from time to time in various routines. Some added them as a funny add on to a routine and some used them as the main focus of the routine. the options and choices are out there for you to explore. Just open your eyes to possibilities and be creative with your thinking.

This might have been discussed before on another thread, but Karrell Fopx used to use a Temple Screen decorated like a Circus and produce the silks as characters in the show. There's a start.
I hope all my fellow magicians have a Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

PS Kyle, I would be interested in getting your new design silks when available.
Sounds like a great idea!!

Thanks Jef. It is a work in progress so we shall see. The other silks I designed are out with P and A silks and I am happy with those. I designed Frankie the Snowman routine and also a Happy Halloween banner silk. Lots of fun.

Lol There ya go. Yeah cause they have been around for a long while from different makers. certainly the prices were a lot higher pending on who manufactured them. They are a fun prop that can be used in so many different ways.

Hello Kyle.
I would be interested in your new design.
Maybe you could use a much durable material than pure silk.
I've been through quite a few sets over the years.

This is not my complete routine, but I ask for help doing the next trick, I need someone really strong...

Is there any body that is really a funny or likes to monkey around? usually I get a lot of hands here and the clown and monkey silk are used.

Who likes to dance?

Then from the temple screen I produce the silks, and get a KODAK Moment with all the silks. I too have a gorilla silk which I use on myself, or switch it for the ballerina.

Take it from me it isn't funny using the monkey silk or gorilla silk on certain cultures. You only make this mistake once, however, I caught it just before it happened or I would have been in deep do-do.

Its a funny routine which uses four kids, I also use various magic wands with each kid.

Almost all the dealers have them now. I have a new set for sale for $69 plus $3 to ship.

I always thought a set of six characters would be nice. Using comedy and mentalism (equivoque) in a routine. I guess four can still be used, but six seems better with more choices.

I consider a great photo moment when you use this silks...that's worth the price.

A comedy routine with questions are ideal.
You show any production device empty and make a question about any profession ( complicated ones as astronaut, scientist...you name it )...and when they answer whatever question wrong you say....no, no, no ,no you maybe you works better as a clown, monkey, ballerina or any of the silks and produce the named silk from the production device that you showed empty before.
Maybe at the end you request to everyone having a silk to act like the design they have and give a BIG applause.
This is not a very MAGICAL routine but I am sure that this entertains all!

This is a routine that comes to my mind just right now reading the post and watching the silks...I need to confess that I don't have the silks.

Hope this helps,
Hansel!

P.S: Nice routine Dennis!
