Curious what the minds of the big green will come up with...
A spectator stands up during your Q & A and asks you "When am I going to die?" What do you say? J

It depends on how they chose to live their life, their date of death is not carved in stone. That would be the short answer.
I do doubt that the person seriously wants to know...they are probably in the group of people in every audience that thinks it fun to try mess you up. Because of this a joke answer, followed by what I wrote above, should be fine. I just saw a story on the internet about this very thing today... Hitler goes to a psychic and asks when he is going to die. The psychic says, "You will die on a Jewish holiday". Hitler asked, "What Jewish holiday?". The psychic says, "I don't know but pretty much any day you die will be a Jewish holiday". |

I would answer something like this:

If I were in that position, I would say something like this:
We are amazing creatures who have free will. As a result, we make decisions every day that can have an impact on when this life ends. And because no man is an island, our decisions affect others. There are people who are making choices right now that will impact our lives in small and large ways. Instead of worrying about when your life will end, I think you should focus on what actions can you take now to improve your life and the lives of those around you. The decision is yours. I wish you well, my friend. Bobby

Maybe, just maybe this person has recently been diagnosed with something troublesome and they NEED some REAL advice. It MAY NOT be a time for wishy-washy nonsense. It is your responsibility to know this and to be sensitive. Now start your mota.

Needing real advice and being my responsibility to know this??? What??? Are you serious???
The LAST person they should be asking for serious advice on anything, much less this topic, is some strange guy they've never met pulling tricks on people they don't even know with a crowd of people standing around watching!!! Mark. |

I suppose you could use the old Henny Youngman line:
"Go see Doctor Rosenberg. Great doctor. He gave a guy six months to live. The guy couldn't pay his bill so he gave him another six months." The Rt. Rev. Dr. Bob First Universal Church of Knowledge |

I did not say you need to SUPPLY the advice, I said you need to KNOW if someone is in GENUINE need. There is a massive difference. You may have a disaster on you hands if you cannot make this distinction.
So yes Mark, you are correct in saying, "The LAST person they should be asking for serious advice on anything, much less this topic, is some strange guy they've never met pulling tricks on people they don't even know with a crowd of people standing around watching!!!" Spot on! Benny

If someone is really sick they will not stand up during a public show. They will come to you after the show to talk to you privately.
If it was not an after-dinner show but a Q & A at a Spiritualist church it would be different. Those would all be serious questions and a question about dying would be handled as a serious question. |
