I have a show in mid-January, but I will not be available to book for performances until April (personal plus financial reasons).
So I had an idea to hand out business cards that ask them to visit my web site and make a comment about the show they just saw. I get comments I can use on the web site and elsewhere as testimonials. I can also ask if they are interested in having a magic show and what kind. With the email addresses, I can let them know when I'm available; I can also provide a "learn magic" course (something like Eric Paul's) to keep them with me between Jan and April. Good idea or bad? What am I missing (besides the web site!) to fill this out? Ed |

I would suggest offering them a gift as an incentive to visit the website and leave a testimonial, perhaps a free magic lesson via email.
Don't worry about telling anybody that you aren't available between Jan & April. If someone calls, just tell them that you have something else on that date. Jim |

Thanks, Jim!
By the way, is there a prepackaged "learn magic" by email course? Not that I'm opposed to making my own, but I don't know that I've got the time between now and January to put out a polished course. I liked Eric Paul's, but it's all him in the vidoes and it's his web site. (Then again, he might not mind me driving people to *his* web site, but that kind of defeats my purpose!) I guess I could throw up a few scanned copies of tricks - bbut I'm afrais they would look "thrown up"! And what kinds of gifts would be good? Perhaps a discount off a future show? Ed PS - I know these are basic questions, but I know that you know that many performers aren't real business savvy. And I'd rather look stupid for the few minutes it takes to ask than go away forever not knowing. |
