Mike:
Is there a certain minimum quantity you have to order? Just curious.

Is there a particularly way of crumpling and holding the crumpled bottle that looks better then other ways?

What I do seems to work for me. I crumple up the bag and hold it with my thumb and one finger. This makes it appear that I really am not holding onto it much at all.
I also crumple it and hold it down to my side. I figure if the bottle really is gone, why would anyone want to draw attention to the bag. You would crumple it up and throw it away. Here is a subtlety that works well. Crumple up the bag and toss it behind your table. Have a duplicate crumpled up bag in table. Pause and then toss out the fake bag and just state you would like someone to throw the bag away for you when they get a chance. You want to keep the place clean. It is so simple to do but really sells the effect. Give it a try and see what works for you.

Hello everyone.
I've recently begun playing around with this effect, too. There are certainly great things to be done with it, including extended routines, but I do think it's especially effective as a very brief, very visual interlude or even opening trick - the kind that has people still scratching their eyes while you're on to something new. I was wondering how you guys deal with the tendency of the bottle to cause the paper sack to uncrumple after it's been thrown to the ground. Would using a larger bag help? I've been using the standard brown paper lunch bag. Have a nice day. |

Dynamike,
There are static cling labels available for the ketchup bottle now. They work pretty well for me. Regan

Here's a tip. If you are using a coke bottle you can cut the top off and replace it with a real glass top. That means you can tap the bottle on the table and show its solid!
(don't blame me if you ruin your bottle though...) |

Nicholas J. Johnson have you cut the top off a bottle? If so, how do you do it without breaking the top.
I do like the idea of the sound.

My Ketchup bottle routine starts with my showing a paper bag and stating that my little dog Oscar is in the bag and will do tricks. I ask him to situp, roll over, then I make him disapper without anyone seeing in the bag. I ask if they like this trick. Sometimes everyone does then I act like someone said they did not like the trick because they could not see him. So I ask everyone if I should bring him back for everyone to see. Of course they say yes. I say the magic word and introduce the audience to my litte dog Oscar- Oscar Mayer. I don't know if our frinds in the UK know that Oscar Mayer is a well known meat packing plant that sells great Hot Dogs. When I get groans, I explain tha I never told them what kind of dog he was. Next, I put the hotdog (plastic ussually) away I bring out another bag and tell them I hate mustard so I have. . . (shsowing them the bottle) and they yell Ketchup. Then I have the bottle travel from one bag to the other invisibly and disapparing,( without them seeing it. Then I hold both bags in one hand showing them the bottle in one of the bags and telling them it will travel to the other bag and I reverse my wrist changing the position of the bags. I act guilty. And confess that they caught me and I tell them it was not a good trick anyway. Then crumple both bags and throw them away. I get gasps from more moms then from the kids, although they like it too.
