It seems like there are 2 groups, those who say it happened, and they all lived that life (but are now dead???) or that it was all a dream in jacks mind (????). If it all did happen, and they are all in the church, what about hurley guarding the island?

Kcg, presumably Hurley guarded the light for as long as he could, but like Jacob, he eventually met his death in the end. Because that afterlife place knows no time, he could have lived 1000 years and still ended up in Limbo with the rest of them.

I agree with Andini's comments along with Balducci's. The island was obviously real, the events, the friendship's made on the island actually took place. I think Christian (Jack's Dad) was there to confirm this, his dialogue was not only for jack's benefit but for the viewing audience too
It clearly was'nt a dream, nothing points to this theory and for some reason people still think the island was some sort of purgatory - why in the world would anyone think that? I loved the whole series and thought the finale was great! Fantastic show - ok not everything was answered but I don't need to know everything. I was always more interested in the characters than anything else but I can see how others would be annoyed.. Loved it! |

I think magical performers can learn how to package mystery with emotional impact -- or hope to learn this from LOST. The show does drama/ mystery/ emotional impact very well.

I seem to recall a TED Talk with one of the writers discussing how they approach the 'mystery' of the show.

Lol. ABC is still explaining the finale:
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=12545206 Many Lost fans scratched their heads after Sunday's two-and-a-half-hour series finale, and not just because of that golden tunnel of light. After the final image of the series, a close-up of Jack's eye closing, the closing credits featured images of the Oceanic 815 wreckage on the beach and the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Many interpreted this final scene to mean that none of the castaways survived the plane crash that began the series, which would also mean that almost the entire series was not real. However, ABC issued a statement Tuesday clarifying that the images over the closing credits were not part of the narrative of the final episode. "The images shown during the end credits of the Lost finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the episode but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news," it said.

Furthermore, something like 4 of the 6 winning numbers were also drawn in the lottery immediately prior (or perhaps it was after, off the top of my head I do not remember) the two lottery draws mentioned above.
