I've recently gone back to revisit Predicta (scratch lottery card), from a few years ago. The effect is no longer available, but, in my view, if the cards had been printed with something generic like "Lotto," this would/could have been an absolute killer effect!
Gilbert Raimond, the creator, seems to have disappeared, so I can't ask what his reason or motivation was to print the cards with the heading that he chose (the name of the marketed effect!), or if he would consider re-releasing it (with the much needed cosmetic changes). But given that this is long discontinued item, I, for one, would love to see a distributor/producer (Peter Nardi - are you reading this!!!) re-market this effect (with all credit/appropriate compensation to George) with a credible looking lottery ticket! Or were there any other issues with the idea/effect that I am not aware of, that would stop this from being an absolutely massive hit? |

I flipping loved it. bought every set that came on ebay, have around 80 cards left and wouldn't part with them.
Now, if it had the same production quality as powerball 60 - i.e. looks EXACTLY like a legit ticket, then it'd be a serious winner. On another note, I've experimented and had some success making my own replacements for when the inevitable happens....my supply ends. |

Powerball 60 is the perfect comparison....looks completely legit!
There's a Chinese manufacturer (go figure!) knocking the Predicta Cards off, with "Predicta" replaced with the even more ridiculous "Prediction Magic" with an added magic wand graphic! I suppose for the non-English market, it's less of an issue. FYI, just noticed that Stevens still has this listed (with the original Predicta label). |

Here's my secret;
Go to a printer, give him the exact dimensions of the predicta gimmicked card. Have him design something that looks nice, with the 'hot' areas in the specifically required locations. Then, when you have a design you like, order a hundred. Then, using some steam, take the cover off the horrible predicta cards (it's only attached by a quarter of an inch) and reattach on your specially designed cards. Now you have a pretty legit better quality card that looks seamless. if you take time. |

Eric,
This is a staple of one of my shows, and I purchased a couple hundred cards about 2 years ago just in case they became difficult to find. My supply is dwindling down to the point where I am judicious about when to use it, but as you've discovered, the reactions to this make it one of the strongest effects there is. I've am interested in checking into having them produced or producing them myself, as well - with proper permission. I've worked with a company that has the capabilities to manufacture these. By the way, as time went on, and with some help from David Regal and Jon Riggs products, my presentation has removed the 'clunkiness' of the provided instructions, and is a ball to perform now. I'd be happy to share it with you, and will even send you a few cards to try it with, if you're out. Just PM or email me. Georges Proust, in Paris, has the rights to this, I believe, and Joe Stevens (or maybe Mark, now) was his distributor here in the states. Let me know if you'd like to to pursue this, or if I can help in any way. Keith P.S. I do like not having it a massive hit, as there is no comparison to this effect in regards to lottery predictions. |

Hi everybody, I'm Gilbert RAIMOND from France.
I'm just discovering this topic but as Keith said, you can stil find Predicta on Joe Steven's shop. What about the design of my tickets : I didn't make the design myself, Georges's did, and the name (in France) can't use words like lottery, scratch, bingo, ... all protected names ! I apreciate the spirit of the Aukt ideas... Regards Sirs |

The issue isn't so much what name to use as why have a name at all, I think
I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I used a paper slicer to whack "Predicta" off the top You have to trim down the paper backing as well, of course, and you're left with slightly less space in which to effect the necessary "work," but the card itself is smaller and easier to manipulate, should that be necessary. I suppose this isn't tipping anything, so I'll say that the smaller size makes a switch possible, which means the lottery card can be out in the open from the beginning of the trick. Since the resultant revelation is so strong, the possibility of switching just never comes up, but the anticipation can still build up, given the card with the gold-wax-covered numbers is in plain view the whole time. This is, after all, one of those effects where the ending is okay to telegraph from the start, given that it's so unbelievable anyway That said, I probably won't be looking to refill when my own stash runs dry - too many other killer effects out there to do predicta-bly yours, Jim Kawashima |

Predicta is out of print. However, you can purchase materials to make your own scratchers. I don't have a source handy, but someone may be able to supply it.
Also, Peter Nardi's Cartomancy was recently released and it's a scratch that predicts a lucky card. It's not the same, of course, but it's similar and may pique your interest. -- Jheff

I always found this effect a bit 'clunky' in handling.
I've probably got most of them left (single pack). |

I know this is an old topic, but this seems a valuable link ( magi helping magi and whatnot):
