It's interesting that the number 1 books for all four years were clear winners with the rest of the books in a tighter race for number 2.

Hi David,

When you say 'pure cardician', does this mean you are averse to using gaffs? Also, are you looking for visual card effects, story based routines or...?

Jon

In the case of the Fogel book - virtually nothing. It's not a book for someone who's only interested in card magic.

Hi Jon and Caliban,

thanks for your replies! I'm mostly working with a ordinary deck, but some minor gaffs are ok with me (eg I have all the time a short card in the deck aso). I love mental card effects and thought-of-card effects. there are not so many non-card tricks that I would perform or love Smile

best David

I m wondering, are most of the Café member just watch DVDs to learn so just not that many of use read a book? Or some members just can't be bothered to vote? By looking at the amount of people voted, it's just very lean....

Bob

Same thing for the Roy Benson book, which is mostly on stage and cabaret magic. Also its out of print as far as I know.

I apologize for missing the Zarrow book. I must have deleted it accidentally when I was removing the single vote titles from the list. Here's a newer, corrected version of the entire list.

I couldn't find any when searching. I don't believe there was a vote here on the Café before 2005.

Yes, considering the number of Café members it is amazingly lean, and some good books seem to be bypassed completely. Of course, one only has a limited amount of cash to exchange for books a year, but the voting numbers do suggest so few now read OR many books bought are so disappointing the purchaser doesn't consider them worthy of a vote. I think more likely the former.

Maybe there would be more votes in a Golden Turkey book list for the year.

Let's hope at the end of this year Café members are more willing to vote for a book they enjoyed.

Paul.
