Someone had asked on another thread about the winners from previous years. I was curious myself and did a bit of searching and came up with the following. If there's anything earlier than this, I was unable to find it. I also chopped each list to only contain those that received at least two votes.

It's interesting that the number 1 books for all four years were clear winners with the rest of the books in a tighter race for number 2.

Hello folks, can someone tell me how much the books by roy benson, jon allen (experience), curtis kam and about maurice fogel have to offer to a pure cardician?
thx! David |

Hi David,
When you say 'pure cardician', does this mean you are averse to using gaffs? Also, are you looking for visual card effects, story based routines or...? Regards, Jon

Hi Jon and Caliban,
thanks for your replies! I'm mostly working with a ordinary deck, but some minor gaffs are ok with me (eg I have all the time a short card in the deck aso). I love mental card effects and thought-of-card effects. there are not so many non-card tricks that I would perform or love best David |

I apologize for missing the Zarrow book. I must have deleted it accidentally when I was removing the single vote titles from the list. Here's a newer, corrected version of the entire list.

Is there any list of Best book award from 1990-2005 and earlier?
|
ekins Special user Portland, Oregon 513 Posts |
I couldn't find any when searching. I don't believe there was a vote here on the Café before 2005.

Of course, one only has a limited amount of cash to exchange for books a year, but the voting numbers do suggest so few now read OR many books bought are so disappointing the purchaser doesn't consider them worthy of a vote. I think more likely the former. Maybe there would be more votes in a Golden Turkey book list for the year. Let's hope at the end of this year Café members are more willing to vote for a book they enjoyed. Paul. |
