Due to the time difference for our friends in Australia, New Zealand, Philipines, Singapore, etc, best to put this banner up well before the ball drops and a new year and new decade set upon us - some earlier than others.

I wish all my magical brothers here at the Magic Café from all around the world all the very best for 2010.

Good health and happiness to you all.

And Malaysia too. James Tong, you'll be ringing in the New Year long before most of us will. Have to tell us what 2010 feels like......you too Rannie in Manila and all our other friends on that side of the world.

May the New year bring us back, say 20 years when things were much easier.

Ooops, forget it, 20 years ago we didn't have computers.

Remember the Commodore 64 computer back in the day? I think that was around 1980 or so........that's when Beta was slugging it out with VHS for dominance of the home video market.......remember how huge and heavy those video players were?........and to think, it really wasn't all that long ago.

Twenty years ago, I had a Tandy 1000 SX. This was Tandy's entry into the "real world" of PC-nearly compatibles. I ran DOS on this thing. I had a 20 MB hard drive on a card that fit into one of the slots. I also had a MIDI card, and I was doing composing on this computer using Cakewalk 1.0.

Those were the days!

Oh yeah. I had a dot matrix printer. WHEE!

1990 I was using my Atari 800 with a whopping 64k of ram and a floppy disk drive. I wanted a "real" computer so I upgraded to an IBM clone that ran at a blazing 12mz, had a 40 meg hard drive, a 1meg video card and dual floppy drives. The 14" 50 pound Viewsonic VGA monitor topped it off.

And I only paid $2500 for the whole setup. A real bargain in those days!
It's not the size of the wand that matters, it's the "magic" in it...

The Germans have a really neat expression that translates into "Have a good slide into the New Year."

I wish that to all of us.

Just another day and a click of the calendar. Have a great day every day, smell the roses, breath some fresh air and live well.

I had my c-64 in the 80's, an Amiga, and a Mac in 88'.
Time and computers are only slightly related, remember the Millennium scare? Now, that was a cool New Year, doomsday threat and all.

I agree with you Pete, the more advanced we become, the more it seems all a waste of valuable time. Suppose to be easier now with all the newest bells and whistles but it certainly is not true.

H New Year everyone.

Reminds me, I had a Tandy 100 and we could read the stuff as it was coming in on a dialup. Then graduated to a Tandy 200.
When I got into the real stuff, I paid $5,000 for a 286 machine with a 1meg hard drive, a monitor, a printer and scanner.
