Has anybody mentioned the venerable professor's nightmare? I have literally worn the ropes out on this dozens of times over the years..

Ball and Tube (especially with Docc Hilford's book!)
Haunted Key (I can't believe no one's mentioned it) and yet another vote for CRAZY CUBE! Crazy cube is the trick that taught me that it's not what really happens that matters, it's what the spectator thinks happened! |

Best $5.00 I ever spent was my Miracle Ball poor man's zombie. (I dunno if you can get them now or what they cost.)
I just got an aluminum coin funnel for about $15.00 that I think is a pretty neat device. I like the fact that you can let the spectator examine all the parts and they'll never catch on. Plus its just neat looking and feels good in your hand
It is always darkest just before you are eaten by a grue.

Best magic thing I ever bought for less than $10 or a "very best inexpensive" magic item was J.B. Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic. It's not just one trick but a cauldron of tricks. Best investment in magic I ever made. It cost me much of nothing and has lasted me a lifetime. -Mb
