Hurrah, the performance arrives! Well that establishes the copyright, eh? Interesting timing ;-)
Very cute. And a terribly clever premise. However, I was a disappointed when he took "his first step". It is in fact "his first shuffle". The narrative description took a liberty there. I was interested in seeing (and creating) actual steps, rather than the xmas decoration style animation. I'm sure its entertaining, but its not inexplicable as I'd hoped. In any case... glad its finally out there. I'm sure it will entertain many. |

Looks okay.
Couple of things...nothing added to the clay..I saw several things added to the clay including something which was my first obvious thought on how this might work...some liberties there in the description methinks. Like the look of the bag that he "walks on" , it looks quite unobtrusive to what it could have looked like. All in all its just what I expected, not a bad little effect but not something I'd pull out as the best piece of magic I could do. |

Hmm... I'm very happy that I didn't spend my money on that. Nice idea but that walking looks horrible. Horrible like my english...
Isn't spectator going to realise that moving clayman looks little different than clayman at the beginning!? |

Hello all
Just for the record...there is only one little man used here. There is no switch.Any difference you see on the demo happened when the little guy was being moved around to get the different shots. As far as the walk goes...these are the first tentative steps of a clay figure..sort of like frankenstein's first tentative steps. It makes perfect visual sense that this is how a little clay man would take his first walk walk in the world. Of course I'm biased here..just wanted you all to know the intent here. J |

Finally the demo is here ... we have waited so long!
I don't like to talk about new magic tricks before they are on the market or I bought them but there are pages over pages about LITTLE MAN here and now the demo ... The ad says ... "YES, HE'S MOVING FORWARD AND ACTUALLY WALKING... ONE ASTONISHING STEP AT A TIME!" - but for me there is no walking just moving forward. That disappointed me very much. I don't know what I have expected - maybe a miracle?! Also I don't know how I can explain the audience, why LITTLE MAN must walking (sorry moving) on the black bag? The idea is very clever but after that hype and for that price ($300) - I am really sorry to say that - I am very disappointed. But this is only my opinion after watching the demo.

Loved this!
Gitty, I thought the walking looked wicked! He didn't move like he was being pushed or pulled along by anything, and the way he kind of swaggered, I think fitted perfectly with the idea that he had just been created. It is hard for us to look at from the eyes of a layman - we knew the effect long before the demo was available. But imagine that someone you know just comes home from shopping, and makes something out of the clay that they bought... I think this looks cute and creepy at once, somehow, and once I've worked out which internal organs aren't strictly necessary, I'm selling one to purchase Little Man. Anyone need anything?... |

What does it sound like during the real performance? I think the creepy overdubbed heart-beat effect enhanced the demo considerably.

Hello Gradachuck. Good comment about the heartbeat. Paul will actually be including a presentation that incorporates the heartbeat soundtrack in the performance.

I thought it looked impressive. Surely people weren't expecting him to walk around like morph used to, and be examinable????
Incidently, this is morph cheating at cards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSMRPKM1e......&index=0 |

Thank you Janet for posting the Demo. I, like many of us, have been anxiously waiting to see the demo. I have posted in another thread that I lost interest in this effect due to the very long wait and hype of this. However, to see the demo has peeked my interest again. I think we as magicians expects a miracle with this effect. Paul always provides us with the best effects and he has created something special here. The fact that EVERYTHING can be examined at the end makes this even more unbelievable. The shuffling instead of walking doesn't concern me like some of the other magicians have stated. I think the effect of having the little man choose the correct item is very neat. I can see doing a card effect with miniture cards and the little man finds the chosen card much like the car buggy.
From what I understand Paul has spent a lot of time and energy producing this and I hope he knows that it was time well spent. Keep creating Paul and thank you Janet for posting the demo. Mike |
