Just got this email from Mike concerning Sr. Rai.
Hello Richard ,
Sorry about to hear about Jerry,

Well I have to tell you on New Years Eve Rai was getting out of the truck and trip over a tree stump.And got a fracture in his lower back,they did a procedure with a needle and injected some kind of cement and bond the fracture together right now he is resting in the Scared Heart Hospital here Pensacola Fl.

It was so bad any movement at all he screamed at the top of his lungs,I was afraid that he was going to be paralyzed but doing much better right now,he called me this morning to check on me I was a mess yesterday evening after I found out that he was going to be OK I broke down crying .

He is resting haven't talked with the Doctor yet but might be able to come home today. He just called as I am writing this email he is going crazy laying in one spot so I guess he's doing OK,let you know more later,Please let some of the other magic people know what's going on,Thanks Richard,Mike

I haven't seen Rai in years, but have many fond memories of watching his show and spending time with he and Mike.

I talked with Rai yesterday. He is home but still in a great deal of pain. He is a trouper but this will take awhile to rehab from this.

I will try to talk with him tomorrow and keep people posted.

Can you provide a link to information (web page, bibliography, etc.) about Sr. Rai. I have no idea who he is and Googling "Sr. Rai" was not much help in this regard. Is (was?) he a magician? A Spiritualist? A famous transcendentalist?

Sorry for being so dense. I've just never heard of him or his claim to fame.

Go to the Newest Tops Magazine. There is a bio page under columns.

Rai is old school. He does not have a web page.

Not only was he a performer in circus, he was the ringmaster, production manager for them. He was production manager on last national tour of Shimada. He made Melinda's costumes, Harry Blackstone Jr. and numerous others.

Do a You tube search to see him in action.

He was not only a fixture in circus, but he crossed over into magic and the real celebrity world.

Couldn't find any Café poster under the name Senor Rai. Did he get banned? I did check out a few Tops magazine (online) and I find Semor Rai to be a very interesting and multi-talented person. I'm off to check out youTube for some videos of him.

Rai complained after being attacked on the forum. Rai does have bit of a short handle. He is banned. That is unfortunate as he still has much real world advice to offer.

Right now, Rai is pretty down with this back thing. It is going take quite awhile for him to get back up and going around. He goes to the doctor tomorrow to get an update.

I talked Rai yesterday. Still down a bit but the outlook is good. The doctor said basically they injected a glue to help hold the vertebra in place until they mend. So at least they will not have to fuse anything. So he is on complete bed rest for 30 days.

While I know he is going stir crazy, at least this sounds like good news.
