Hey,
I saw videos of "Blackout!" and "The Kaylor Option (KTO)" which both seems to be great. Can someone please explain which is the difference between the tricks, which is better and more impromptu? Can KTO be used with Euro Coins? To use Blackout you have to buy a special version which is available. Greetings Madcat |

They are two completely different things.
TKO is a type of new topit, can be used with any type of small objects. Blackout is a gaffed coin and a gimmick. TKO is for ditching the last coin, and more. Blackout is for more impossible coins across, and more. I think. The above are from what I've read, still waiting for my Blackout half dollar to arrive. |

Okay, thanks.
Do you know if TKO does need as much setup as the raven and do you think it is worth buying when you still have the raven? |

TKO is completely different than the raven. There are no pulls, magnets, or strings. It allows you to vanish and retrieve objects, such as coins, rings, and cards. It installs into virtually any button up shirt with minimal set-up, and is easily transferable between shirts. You will just have to sew a button which takes about a minute the way I teach in the instructional booklet and DVD. The TKO lies dormant until you need it, the opening is adjustable, and you can open and close it during performance. Because of the design, it is basically impossible to detect. You can use any coins from any country, or even borrow coins to use. It will allow you to ditched gimmicked or gaffed coins during performance. For best results, you will want to roll your sleeves up. It truly allows you to do incredibly visual vanishes and switches. I have been demoing it all week and the S.C.A.M. Convention in Columbia, South Carolina and it has been getting a great response from everyone here. Let me know if you have any questions at all, hope this helps.
A quick quote from Eric Jones after I did a few demo's for him, Eric is one of the great magicians/coin workers here at S.C.A.M.: “It fooled the hell out of me. I had to have one!” I recently saw Joshua Jay at a lecture in Ft. Myers, FL, and gave him a TKO package, and this was a quote from him: "Your unique vanishing sequence is amazing in your hands and looks terrific. Used sparingly, I think this is a valuable tool." |

Exactly this is what I am worried about with Blackout. As I know how the coin is gimmicked I can't imagin to perform it quite well close-up. TKO seems to have the better gimmick there.
I tested Blackout with a self gimmicked coin and while vanishing works more or less I find retrieving the coin close-up only possible with good misdirection. But what I'm more afraid of is handling the coin because it can't be shown completely and the vanish isn't that clean. Perhaps the DVD gives good advice but I can't imagine to have it handled good on close-up. Think I will be more happy with TKO even if it is more vanish focused as Blackout tends to give you more options. |

You will be more happy with TKO.Blackout people can see the coin.TKO can be
done undetected and people have no idea where the coin went to. |

You have raven and as you know it allows you to vanish coins and other samll objects!!! There is a get ready for raven just before the vanish. The preparation for TKO is before you get out of your house.
Lets say you need to vanish a coin. With raven fixed , you approach a group. Just before the vanish hands are shown empty, then you misdirect and do a small movement to setup (You know what it is). Then there is magic. With TKO you just show your hands empty, get the coin in full view, and simply vanish it. Its that clear. Even if you have raven get TKO. You wont be dissapointed. And if you are inexperienced with topits, this would be a small version I believe. TKO also allows you to do many more stuff. My humble opinion I don't have blackout and I think its totally different from these |

In fact, I know from personal experience that a 'home made' version simply doesn't work. While I don't personally use Blackout too often for just a simple vanish, it couldn't be cleaner. After well over a year and thousands of close-up performances (about 300 performances at MagicLive!), nobody has ever seen it. Many working professionals contact me on regular basis sharing their daily success with the gimmick. Like a thumb tip, YOU can see it. But if anyone else is seeing it, there's a problem with the performance. it's all in the handling. Blackout is a tool to be used with confidence. But that can only happen after mastering it with considerable practice. Like most magic, I've seen a lot of people perform blackout brilliantly and, unfortunately, a handful of people perform it without the confidence and grace that is needed. Best, Platt

Brian. I love the blackout gimmick. I picked this up a few weeks back and was more than pleased with the quality and gimmicks. As you said this goes so undetected. I performed a simple vanish using the sharpie for my father at DJ's restraunt last week and no one saw a thing. Now my father has been a full time magician for over 20 yrs. He looked for pulls and everything. Not a clue. Thanks Brian!!

Blackout cannot be compared to anything else since there is nothing currently on the market like it.
Blackout is sweet. |

It is not important if there is a similar working product on the market - the only thing that is important is which performances you can do for the audience. How you do the impression technically doesn't matter - just how it looks & feels for your spectators. So if you do a vanish for example, Blackout has to compete with Raven, TKO etc. So although the professional Blackout version works, it still don't see the advantages compared with TKO - this is what the thread about. An important question is think since both products are (too) pricey. |

About TKO. My question: Is it available yet? I saw it at Hank lee's website, and according to that, they did not have it in yet. They were accepting pre-orders.
So where can I purchase one and get it shipped on the spot? The fact that you guys are talking about it from the perspective of already having used it gives me the hint that SOMEONE somewhere is selling this now and without pre-orders.

Ok! Thanks! I know where his website is. Apparently Hank is about to start stocking it, but if Mike has it right now, he gets my wallet vote. Pre-order is for the birds (usually)

I'm looking to do the same. This is very, very tempting.
Is it limited mostly to coins, or can you ditch an entire full deck of cards in there?

I don't have either, but having seen the TKO, I think Blackout represents the holy grail of coins. (I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet now).
Blackout is a means not just of vanishing a coin, but of ringing a coin in and out of play at will. I argue that this is far more powerful than being able to ditch a coin. |
