I have been a supporter of TMyers for as long as I have been in balloons. Recently the company was sold and has changed some of the ways business is done. For instance they used to have weekly specials on balloons, DVD's, and other items. This part has been taken off the website. This is very unfortunate as that was the main reason I had been purchasing from them. It has been said before on here that their prices are also higher than other suppliers.
The combination of higher priced balloons and lack of specials makes me wonder if the company is going to be near the top of the balloon world for much longer. They still keep a large supply of DVDs so I may purchase from them once or twice a year, however not nearly as much as I have been. There isn't really a question in this post. Maybe someone could suggest other sites that have good prices on balloons and also large DVD collections. Or maybe someone knows about the company and its future. |

Balloons to you has very good prices on balloons. However, they don't have dvd's. You can find them at: http://www.btydirect.com

Thanks guys, these are the same sites that have been posted over and over again and yes the prices for balloons are better than T's. Since this may just end up being about posting where to get balloons could we at least keep it to companies that also have large collections of instructional materials.
What are others opinions on the changes? If they have potentially lost me as a customer I'm sure I'm not the only one. |

I've shopped with TMyers for years, but the bottom line is I save a significant amount of money using balloon merchant for my balloons. I even called TMyers and tried to get them to price match because I'd rather use them. But they would not do that, and they were aware that balloonmerchant was cheaper. I know they'll have something I'll want or need soon enough, but my last several orders have been to balloonmerchant. I would not have ever known about them if it weren't for the Café.

Larocks has a large amount of videos for sale and are cheaper than Tmyers if tahts what you looking for?
Why limit to one supplier? Do what Jays comment above says. Buy videos from one and balloons from the other. Regarding companies and not prices Joe at Balloon Merchant has been in business since 1965 and has given a lot to the balloon community. Never had any issues with his product. Very customer friendly. |

I think you may be asking for something that doesn't exist. The supplier with the most extensive DVD library isn't necessarily going to have the best price on balloons. Just like a magic shop with the best books to offer may not have all the props you want. I just placed an order with 1800-4-balloons in Chicago for a DVD I was looking for, and bought a few bags to make the minimum order. The per bag price was more than balloonmerchant, but had I placed two orders, I'd be paying serious shipping to two companies. You have to weigh the options. You probably buy 10x the balloons I do, so the price differential adds up quickly. Just think of the DVDs as a separate shopping trip. It would be nice if someone had it all, but then we'd complain it was the wal-mart of entertainment products, putting the little guys out. I like spreading around my shopping in niche markets. Just 2cents.

T. Myers was a great company. I haven't ordered from them since they changed hands and the prices went up.

I really like Gus and Bettina, they are good people.
Not to make excuses for them BUT they have a lot on their plate of late. Gus is a fulltime pro flying around the country performing at corporate gigs. Bettina runs the company and has a new son Bryce. (well I Gus isn't that busy ) They are very active in the balloon community and support it greatly. Yeah they may cost a little more, but they are not just in it for the cash .... they love the entertainment business. On a hi note Tom Myers sold the company to reconnect with his first wife again. What am I saying? If you believe in family values you may want to give Tmyers your business. READ this Blog: http://www4.mailordercentral.com/tmyersm......dept=317 New people to the balloon world, you may not know the accomplishments of Tom Myers: • Started Twist & Shout • TJam on the Road bring the top balloon artists on a multi-state tour. • Created the Pump-o • Did the first real work on balloon hats • Tom was the inspiration for me doing balloon hats only.....

I second what Mark said.
BTW, he left out that Tom's newsletter began connecting twisters so that they could jam and share ideas with others in their area even before Balloon HQ or any conventions existed. Tom hand picked Gus & Bettina to take over the business, and I know it was a decision that he did not take lightly. Gus has stepped into some pretty big shoes and I actually believe he has done a pretty good job so far.

Yes I feel you need to look at the bigger picture, It's not always just about the price but what the supplier helps to give back to the balloon community.

TMyers was always my first choice and I feel the stress that they do. I have a lot on my plate and I give back to my community. It always comes down to looking out for #1 and that's me, so better price will always win. I have to look at my bottom line.

My 2 cents. I have always bought from TMyers, until now. The shipping they charge is high, and their supply of others fun magic goodies and specials - (especially Stickers) has decreased. (I always ordered other goodies) Slightly Higher Prices, less available, and HIGH Shipping makes it necessary to go elsewhere.
As for Family Values - I believe in Family - let's support every kind of Family.

I have always ordered from Tmyers. Recently I tried another company cause I heard they were cheaper and the shipping was lower. They took my order and said they would call me the next day to let me know the shipping costs .... and a week later when I called them they were sorry they had not gotten back to me and I said I too was sorry but I needed the balloons yesterday. I hung up and called Tmyers who got them to me quickly. Sometimes you get what you pay for! I got good service from tmyers and the other company lost a good account.

My problem is the last two time I ordered with Tmyers they called back the next day and said they were out of stock on the two of the items I ordered. I'm talking single color of 260's nothing fancy. If I can't get what I need I have to go some place else.
