Gumbini : "We are taught to "love our enemies" "turn the other cheek" and "do unto others as you would have done unto you." I dare you to find that in other religious books in these other countries."
Balducci : Here's your list. Gumbini : No, not those countries. Proper countries. Ones we're at war with. (And no cheap shots about how being at war means maybe we weren't really 'taught' about loving our enemies and do unto others..we also get taught which bits of the holy book we can safely ignore). Besides, 'brother' doesn't mean brother in that quote you gave. Look it up. (No, you find it, I'm a busy man...) Oh, and look up infidel it's very important. (Once again, I'm busy...) Don't forget though, that in this case, 'infidel' means 'infidel' And that, my friends, is how you win an argument...

Armed soldiers are in reality a small part of war amounting to 15% and the 85% of it is played by supervision. Afghanistan was a closed society which can not be subverted thus the armed soldiers opened it up and now it can be subverted which takes 15 to 20 years to do. Then we will have what is called normality there for some time. Things and the people will be under control just like we all are.

When a true enemy can make his enemy believe he is not their enemy---he has a chance to win the battle. Thank God we know for sure we are fighting a real enemy who is a real threat to our Country. Our military knows who we are fighting and why we are there---they have no delusions. Let me finish by saying this. When you are fighting against a force that would take a soldier and turn him on his fellow soldiers this truly is a "different kind of war". But those who need to know do know.

Ew ew! I like it! It is a play on the old Satan statement: The enemies greatest trick is to make people not believe they exist....coooool.
I would like to say the soldiers who turned on their fellow soldiers would not have made it in the old military, before it became sensative. |

I think we should find or create a double of Osama. Pretend to capture him, put him on trial and acquit him. Then we could hold peace talks with him. He could call off this holly war if we agree to stop putting bible codes on stuff. Then make him king of Afghanistan perhaps.

By the way, saying you've seen some do it doesn't validate the statement that there are NO atheists in foxholes. Like I said, at least twice I was in situation in which I felt my early demise was on its way... I didn't scream out for help... just waited to see what happened. So far I've gotten lucky... twice.

There are plenty of omniscient turds however.

A couple things. First off the US has reduced military spending, they did so after around 1975 until Reagan took office. The 'real' military was prior to 1983 when the whole sale wussification started. I mean it was silly stuff like forcing the Navy to mellow out on the Shellback ceremony, forcing the bubbleheads to stop drinking there dolphins, banning tacking on crows. It expanded to trying to make the military a social program rather than what it is, the military. The Marines, thank God, have attempted to maintain some sense of what it was. The Navy, which I loved dearly, has fallen into shame at a level once only occupied by the Air Force, a group that I'm surprised is allowed to use the word 'force' in their name. Lastly, yes I know what fragging is.

Dreadnought, if it makes you sleep at night then have it your way. I know I never called to anything in my time. I'm sorry I started this because I know it's a no win situation. You'll never make me believe in your Santa Claus and I'll never make you stop believing in him.
I've tried to stay away from these debates because I know what happens. My only regret is to not live for centuries to see the further explanations when the End of Days don't come and nothing miraculous happens. So sleep tight with your thoughts. This atheist was true to the end... well, maybe I should have screamed for Underdog. greg
